The M4 Sherman medium tank was the primary tank used by the United States during World War II. It has been produced in a significant number of units ant it formed the backbone of United Stated armoured forces during that time. It has been produced in several variants and versions The production of the M4A3E8 versions started at the end of 1944. The M4A3E8, adopting the nickname Easy Eight, took several technical improvements enhancing the Sherman operational effectiveness. The 76mm M1 high velocity gun had been flanked by a new horizontal volute spring suspension (HVSS) system able to ensure a better driving condition and to guarantee a higher speed. The “Easy Eight” participated to the final stages of World War II and took active part in the Korean War.

The M4 Sherman, officially Medium Tank, M4, was the most widely used medium tank by the United States and Western Allies in World War II. The M4 Sherman proved to be reliable, relatively cheap to produce, and available in great numbers. It was also the basis of several successful tank destroyers, such as the M10, 17pdr SP Achilles and M36B1 . Tens of thousands were distributed through the Lend-Lease program to the British Commonwealth and Soviet Union. The tank was named by the British for the American Civil War general William Tecumseh Sherman.
The M4 Sherman evolved from the M3 Medium Tank,[N 1] which - for speed of development - had its main armament in a side sponson mount. The M4 retained much of the previous mechanical design, but moved the main 75 mm gun into a fully traversing central turret. One feature, a one-axis gyrostabilizer, was not precise enough to allow firing when moving but did help keep the reticle on target, so that when the tank did stop to fire, the gun would be aimed in roughly the right direction.
When the M4 tank went into combat in North Africa with the British Army at the Second Battle of El Alamein in late 1942, it increased the advantage of Allied armor over Axis armor and was superior to the lighter German[10] and Italian tank designs. For this reason, the US Army believed that the M4 would be adequate to win the war, and relatively little pressure was initially exerted for further tank development. Logistical and transport restrictions, such as limitations imposed by roads, ports, and bridges, also complicated the introduction of a more capable but heavier tank.[11][N 2] Tank destroyer battalions using vehicles built on the M4 hull and chassis, but with open-topped turrets and more potent high-velocity guns, also entered widespread use in the Allied armies. Even by 1944, most M4 Shermans kept their dual-purpose 75 mm gun.[12] By then, the M4 was inferior in firepower and armor to increasing numbers of German heavy tanks, but was able to fight on with the help of considerable numerical superiority, greater mechanical reliability, better logistical support, and support from growing numbers of fighter-bombers and artillery pieces.[13] Some Shermans were produced with a more capable gun, the 76 mm gun M1, refitted with a 76.2mm calibre Ordnance QF 17-pounder gun by the British (the Sherman Firefly) or given a 105mm gun to act as infantry support vehicles
Fury is a 2014 American war film written and directed by David Ayer, and starring Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, Michael Peña, Jon Bernthal, Jason Isaacs and Scott Eastwood. The film portrays U.S. tank crews fighting in Nazi Germany during the final weeks of the European theater of World War II. Ayer was influenced by the service of veterans in his family and by reading books, such as Belton Y. Cooper's Death Traps, about American armored units in World War II and the high casualty rates suffered by tank crews in Europe.
Production began in early September 2013, in Hertfordshire, England, followed by principal photography on September 30, 2013, in Oxfordshire. Filming continued for a month-and-a-half at different locations, which included the city of Oxford, and concluded on November 13. Fury was released on October 17, 2014, received positive reviews, and grossed $211 million worldwide.

I'm glad you did this model with your techniques because I just got done watching a video of someone who was so meticulous that it almost discouraged me from building this. I have started the Tamiya Easy Eight Sherman, first tank I've ever attempted to build. I've been watching your car and truck builds and have learned a lot about how to do it without having to go to college to be an artist. In fact many of my cars and trucks have come out pretty realistic and pleasing to my eye because of your demonstrations. It's good to see what really needs to be done meticulously and what doesn't so much. Down to earth modeling is what you demonstrate so well. And your results are fine with me. Thank you for what you do.

I enjoyed your build of the Italeri Easy Eight kit. It's amazing what you do with non-traditional model paints. that being said, I take noticed you twice state that "Fury" was NOT a real tank. I assure you, that the tank "Fury" did exist. Per the book IRON KNIGHTS: The U.S. 66th Armored Regiment in WWII, it was in the 66th Armored Regiment, in F Company and was tank number "F2." Happy modelling!

Chris have you ever considered doing a somewhat quick video on the various brushes you use, especially for weathering. I pretty much use the bog standard white handle testors brushes. They’re good for basic parts painting but kinda suck for detailing and weathering. I know you’ve mentioned you buy some of your smaller brushes at dollar stores.
@hpiguy

Go to a craft store and grab some of their brushes. Any of the $5-$12 multi packs work fine. Fine tip, wide tip, etc. They will be well above the plastic Testors variety.

"I'm not an expert, I don't know if I'm getting everything correct" -gets nearly everything correct (that I noticed) Maybe not the "logs as extra armor" bit. I know USMC in the Pacific often used plywood (all sorts of mad max looking applique armor actually) but I think the logs on Fury were intended to be like the Soviet logs where they would be used to get the tank through deep mud. Similar story for those track links. Some crews did cover their tanks with spare links (there's a great pic of a Firefly covered in Stuart/Churchill tracks floating around) but Fury's were probably intended to just be spares. That being said, tracks would've been helpful against those Panzerfaust HEAT rounds...

There is a lot of incorrect stuff with this kit, but logs are actually correct. These were use not only for extra armor but also were use to help drive tank out of ditches. Some russian tanks had logs attached when they were in factory
