"You don't know love until you have a child." I beg to differ. I don't think that's fair to say to people who don't want or can't have a child. Personally, I believe that if you're ready to take a bullet for that special person, then that's just true love right there!

George Benson recorded this song first in 1977. Also, Ms. Salonga recorded this song in 1981 (aged 9 or 10), four years before Whitney Houston so while Houston popularized this song, this will always be Benson's song and possibly Ms. Salonga than Whitney's. As personal preference, Salonga as a child (and not as an adult) interpreted this song better than most if not all other singers given the lyrics at the start of the song is about children!

Well, I like Dolly Parton's version of "I Will Always Love You" more than Whitney's cover and Parton isn't Asian! I'm just not into any of Whitney's covers except the songs she sung first. Without digressing too far, if I compared George Benson's original vs Salonga's later cover (as an adult), it is the former I prefer....

Yes, Mr. Benson and Ms. Salonga recorded it first but Ms. Houston makes the song beautiful, powerful, unmatched song and one of the most popular song of all time

Given the first verse is about children, Salonga (as a child) is better suited for that verse than Houston's even though Houston's cover of a cover is the most popular/known version. I hope sooner or later, someone tries to blend Salonga (as a child) version with Houston's as it might create (in my view) an artistic transition of a child to a young woman and such a version might help to add more meaning to the lyrics than what has already been interpreted so far.

Yes the first verse is all about children and Ms. Salonga is better suited for that but how about the next verse and the Chorus? Is Ms. Salonga better suited fo that rather than Ms. Houston?
