Great job man!!! Keep the videos going. I’m in the process of the same build and this has helped tremendously.

Brilliant video , with great editing . Once again a must keep . Thanks very much ,so helpful . Just to summarise , M52 block (lightly honed ) , rotating assy from M54b30 . Pistons , rods , crank , rings(new) . Reuse main cap bolts, new big end bolts , new bearings (M52b28 or M54b30) ? Looking forward to the next installment . Hopefully more smooth sailing .

Thank you. Your summary is correct, new bearings are m54b30 👍

For the m50nv stroker build.some say the oil baffle plate needs to be chopped of a bit because the con rod will the touching the the baffle at some point but when I did mine it didn’t seem to touch Please I need you help with this
@ManSeeksCivic2 жыл бұрын
It depends on the combination of block, baffle, rotating assembly etc and rod bolts. I use the m50b25 vanos block, M54b30 rotating assembly with oem rod bolts. The baffle plate (windage tray) doesn't foul anything on my setup either. It doesn't move so provided you turned the engine over a complete cycle and checked it will be fine.

Did you forget the oil pickup bracket on the main bearings?

No, just not shown here I'm afraid. Good spot 👍

What's is the compression ratio of this engine when the build is completed? Greatings from Holland

Still somehwere close to standard. 10.2-1

Hey there! As far as I know the m52b25 and b28 and m54b30 pistons are too high and would hit the cylinderhead if not asssembled with a spacerplate. What kind of pistons, conrods and crankshaft are you using?
@ManSeeksCivic3 жыл бұрын
M54b30 crank, rods and pistons.

@@ManSeeksCivic Hmm ok, I guess I will have to buy a whole set from the m54 and see if it will actually fit :) my engine is the single vanos version. The nikasil coating of the m52 is not going to clash with the pistons and rings from the m54 is it?
@ManSeeksCivic3 жыл бұрын
No, the nikasil was a nickel/silicone based coating that hardened the aluminium bores in the m52. If you still have a nikasil engine today that runs fine and doesn't smoke excessively then it will be fine. The coating was damaged by fuels used in the 90s in some countries, this isn't the case today. Just be very cautious with the head bolt threads on the m52.
@Domnaek3 жыл бұрын
@@ManSeeksCivic ok, thanks for the comprehensive explanation and information :) I will maybe switch to the timeserts for the head bolts right away... I don't want to waste one headgasket just to find out that every single thread was pulled when torqued to spec... I mean, you can't be more cautious as you were with these threads, and they still went tits up... I will buy they m54 piston rings as you did, I hope it all goes well with that coating😅 I started watching your videos some days ago because of the m52 build, but actually I watched far more vids than I intended on your channel 😂 nice narrative and the vid quality gets better and better! 👍👍

Why take M52 for the stroke?
@ManSeeksCivic3 жыл бұрын
Ease of build, it was what I had already, couldn't afford a real S50.... Etcetera

@@ManSeeksCivic why dont stay at the m54 block? Not good?
@ManSeeksCivic3 жыл бұрын
It was a project I wanted to do to learn how to build and stroke the m52. I didn't just want to swap in an M54.

Did you shave the m50 block?

No, just cleaned it up. Checked the bore and gave it a deglazing hone.

@embturbo3 жыл бұрын
You should have taken 0.6mm of the block, now you have very low compression. M54 and M52 block have 1mm difference.
@ManSeeksCivic3 жыл бұрын
Interesting 🤔
@embturbo3 жыл бұрын
@@ManSeeksCivic I am not familiar about how much should you take off but someone said 6mm. All is about measuring.
@ManSeeksCivic3 жыл бұрын
You've got me thinking sir. My block now is an m50nv, but my torque values would agree with you. A compression test is needed but the thought of pulling it all apart isn't particularly appealing. I've another project on the go in the background but knowing that there's potentially more to be given by my build is nice.
@nokizorque3 жыл бұрын
The M54 block has a deck height of 211mm and the headgasket is 0.75mm. The M50/M52 block has a deck height of 210mm and the headgasket is 1.75mm. So honestly it shouldn't make a difference since it is all compensated for. I have heard of people decking the block to up the comp ratios but nothing nearly that drastic.
@embturbo2 жыл бұрын
@@nokizorque yeah you are getting 10.1:1 compression ratio. That's low, if you shave the block you will get 10.8:1 and also 270 whp, small details matter 😉
