@ Europe has only SMG trans in the E60 M5,but we got 6-speed manual in the closest cart to M5 and that is 545i
@EidolWays4 жыл бұрын
The only problem is BMW basically parts-binned it and used the transmission from the 545i, as others have said. The synchros can't really keep up with the revs, so a 1->2 quick shift on a full-throttle pull is... eh. I cannot do it without grinding gears, even if I kick the clutch pedal through the floor. So I just have to wait a second between shifts. Then it'll slot into second without grinding.
@robi43874 жыл бұрын
@@EidolWays Interesting to know. Everyone on the internet praises the manual. SMG does take a bit of getting used to. Sometimes it will pull away in 1st sometimes in 2nd, but right now the alternator has gone. So it is not going anywhere in any gear. BTW, here in the UK there are quite a few 645i, 650i, 545i and 550i with the SMG box but very few manuals.

Hey....... yo - how's it hanging ? - A, geez... oh,... ok, sorry... should have paid more attention to the thrust of your post......shit, so sorry...... Have nice day bro.... oh crap - I've done it again with the "bro" thing. Gawd.....please .forget I was ever here. Seriously though, I couldn't agree more. The ingenuous empty meaningless rattle of kids posting here drives me nuts but I suspect we really are over reacting to it and are actually responsible for it. It annoys me right to the edge of sanity but I just can't write these kids off because this is the world we handed them. If some kid pointed out in a critique of my post that over reacting is one word or perhaps should hyphenated I'd be thrilled. Don't know myself to be honest. I expect ( I know ) we have more to worry about than this, but I think kids who post like this maybe are the victims of our complacency. They're not nasty, they just haven't had good role models ( that would be us ) They had to make it all up for themselves as they went along because we were too busy with other things. Mostly, they haven't done too bad. We need to do better however because like most western nations we are headed into a period of domestic economy and we need to be united to make that work - kids included. I offered a reduced price ($2500) and the original owner took it! I sent my friend the money so when I arrived in LA my truck was sitting in my friends driveway. I drove the truck till 2022 when we bought a far newer vehicle-a 2004 Honda CR-V (but that’s a whole other story.). Advanced drivers are taught not to use the indicators unless they are of use to other road users. Makes using them a conscious decision rather than a zombie/subconscious action. For instance. If you are going to use an off ramp and there’s traffic about, you indicate your intention. If you are about to use an on ramp, regardless of traffic, there’s no need to indicate. Other road users know you have no other place to go but into Lane one. Just sayin.

BMW cars eat bushes like there is no tomorrow. They are large and somewhat soft. Which makes the car have that "German feel" to it. It feels shiny when new and wears like shit when getting old. All geometry goes to shit and car starts to tear and wear tires, axles and whatnot. I'm glad this rocketship turned out to be clean. Could have been a real nightmare. :)

I bought a 2005 320i and even though it had nearly 300,000 kms on it, new rubber bushings underneath and it rides like new.
@christianm15334 жыл бұрын
@@rollydoucet8909 : Sure. If you replace them it will ride like new, that's the whole point with bushings.

I was hoping for this. 6MT for the win. The other SMG ones are gone once this gets restored.

Perfect car in the right hands! Car has minimal rust because it lived in the South most of it's life. This is the perfect used M5

We need a higher frequency in your video output man :D Edit after watching: I think you've bought a great car and it sounds incredible good. Very exiting for the upcoming parts :D

My grandfather was a engineer for Borgward before moving over to OPEL and my father was a engineer for OPEL his entire career. They both said the favorite motto for a German engineer is "WHY MAKE IT SIMPLE WHEN WE CAN MAKE IT DIFFICULT".

Funny because I was actually gonna buy this exact car from that seller down here in NC lol went with another e60 that works great

That was probably the best decision you ever made my friend. Fairy lights every two years if you are lucky. My first track day - fairy lights TA and IDC and also needed oil cooler. Two years later no startup whine - hydromotor burnt out. Three weeks ago iDrive went black, every warning light on the dash, no power steering, no drive, limp home - might have been the IBS, but it wasn't. It might be the alternator, we'll see when it arrives. Good luck, let us know how it goes.

@@ginofoogle6944 toyotas are not that great in my opinion but then again ive always been a bmw owner. I'd rather drive something with style, performance and reliability. That is a BMW in my book.

For non millionaires the advice remains sound. But if you have money you are just wasting your life going around in a Toyota!
@TwoDollarGararge4 жыл бұрын
@@ginofoogle6944 I think Toyotas are great if you just want a set of four wheels to get you from point A to point b and back to A and spend minimal money on it but you know they're not going to be fun and the fun ones are expensive look in like most other fun cars that are relatively new

1st view on your channel. Recommended by a friend. I've worked with a lot of Lufthansa mechs on various contracts in aviation, you remind me of many of them! Thorough and good mech skills, way better than 99% of what horrifies me on KZbin car content. Good work man, I've subbed and it's awesome to see you've got a tonne of videos for me to geek out on now and enjoy! Respect!
