This is by far the best M83 concert ever recorded.

Happy to see people still coming to this. Old M83 is best M83. Especially Dead Cities.

i like the M83 of 2003. there are way less vocals and way more ambient waves

Incredible upload, it's so hard to find anything from this era, thanks so much! Such a treat to see how they performed all these songs live. Wishing M83 was still like this, although atleast now we have M83 *and* Team Ghost.

It sucks that i never really heard of M83 until 2020-21 or so except for Midnight City back in 2011 or 2012. But M83 is ALL THAT I LISTEN TO NOW!!! Incredibly Talented!

I wish they concluded the gig with "Beauties Can Die", one of the greatest, most marvellous and heartstrings-plucking endings of all time. I've praised it so many times, that I guess I've run out of words to describe it properly.

M83....what happened to you? Your new albums Is NOTHING like your older stuff. Essentially you became a new band. For good...or bad. Some good...some bad.
@imDezrt7 жыл бұрын
It's because they DID become a new band. People don't usually realize this, but M83 originally started off with 2 songwriters, Anthony and Nicolas Fromageau. Nicolas left after Dead Cities and the style has gradually become more accessible ever since. I still love a lot of what M83 puts out but Dead Cities was really special. Totally singular and totally irreproducible.
@The_RedVIII7 жыл бұрын
Personally I like both "styles". Even though I think the band peaked with Before The Dawn Heals Us which was an amazing mix between the old and new M83. Also, the old stuff sounds almost too similar to Mogwai IMO.
@trentconde11 жыл бұрын
I know I'm gonna catch hell for this but im so glad i didnt discover m83 for myself back then because i wouldn't have given there later stuff a chance in my opinion "Before the deawn heals us" is there best album

Without Nicolas, M83 lost the ambient and "epic" feel of their music. Granted their music is still amazing, just not AS amazing.
@PaytonLowe-ix3mn10 жыл бұрын
They lost the broad storytelling sense across multiple songs but gained the ability to condense it into a single song each time.

What kind of equipment does Antony use besides roland and telecaster?
@K86Music Жыл бұрын
Anthony uses lots of analog synths, especially drum machines too. From what I know, he uses Roland and Yamaha drum machines a lot (an Oberheim one, too). Synth wise, he uses ARP 2600 in his modern music, but also loves to use Roland Jupiter 8 and 6. In his new album, Fantasy, he included a list in the vinyl of what drums and instruments he used.

is this the m83 of midnight city or m83 false ?, I do not understand
@maximelangie28455 жыл бұрын
It's the original group, they were two at the begining, now they are 5 i think.
@K86Music Жыл бұрын
This is the band that indeed made Midnight City. This was their original days before the band really changed. Nicolas left the band, his music changed a lot.

and now you know why Anthony sounds great... ahm, greater, without him.
