Amazing that you did this, just amazing. I'm blown away. I especially liked where you didn't ask him about himself, but about something outside of himself, that way we can really hear what a person's thoughts are. I think people open up more that way, like for example you can ask "What do you do yourself to train", getting a closed answer like "I do 1 2 3", or u can ask "What do you think are some of the most important training exercises and why?", which I think will lead to more open and informative answers, which also include the 1 2 3 but a lot more.

Thanks Timo! Although I'm a bigger fan of Chinese players I appreciate what you are doing to popularize the sport in EU and the rest of the world. What do you think is needed for EU to catch up to China in popularity and skill? I live in Bulgaria and here the sport is somewhat popular at the casual level, but at the pro level I think we are struggling a lot. I think it has to do with insufficient sponsorship and therefore lack of proper coaching and motivation from the players. Younger talents need better coaching and more exposure to big tournaments. I think that is the main problem in EU I think we lack younger players in big tournaments, we mostly see veterans play. I think ITTF while focusing on popularity, should also focus on helping local clubs around the world find sponsorship and improve quality. Also I think it's very important to focus on professional coaching. We need to have coaching standards that are above a certain level in every country, so that we would not fall behind. Web coaching is very innovative as well that's why I appreciate what you and others like EmRatThich are doing. My last question is do you think that different colour rubbers will help popularize the sport, I'm also worried a lot that they could affect gameplay what do you think? Thank you!

Hi Timo, very interesting interview and a phantastic atmosphere between the two of you. I had a question in mind that might have been an addition to your first one. When was he initially introduced to the sport and from when on did he put out these training numbers that he mentioned? I was completely blown away by the amount of time spent. As I am just a beginner in TT, I'd also be very interested in the actual implications he felt with the introduction of plastic balls. Is there also a change in the actual racket "technology" that had a similar impact on his playstyle during the years (I am a little older, so I remember the wood being completely different at times)? Thanks so much for your efforts, this channel and your personality.
