I wonder what they could do with it, besides replacing the fire ball? All I can think of is that one Bros Attack that had him shoot electricity at the ground to hit multiple ground-based enemies. I guess it could also become a grab, functioning like DK's (being able to carry your victim around), given one of its on-field uses.

It's a fine moveset, but Luigi's old up-b defined him in the game as it was a really powerful kill move that required good spacing to pull off. I think that should be kept the same to keep to Luigi's roots as a jumping platformer like Mario.

Why should Luigi be revamped to focus on one small spinoff series when his main place has always been within the Mario main series? Poltergust does need more representation, since it is a big part of modern Luigi, but it doesn't define him as a character. Plus, the fact that it so neatly mirrors FLUDD makes it perfect for a down special. With, perhaps, some command grab properties.

I agree that Luigi's fine as is. Also, Galaxy sold better than both Luigi's Mansion games combined. Not only that, but Luigi was also playable in Galaxy 2, 3D Land, 3D World, and a remake of 64, meaning he's been playable in four or five of the seven or eight 3D Mario games. I don't like the idea of changing a moveset to revolve around one game. Luigi is supposed to represent Luigi from the whole series and not just Luigi's Mansion which is why he is so similar to Mario. He's similar to Mario in Smash because he's similar to Mario in everything else. Changing his moves changes his identity.

I know Luigi for getting haunted Masions and all the Spooky, unnerving things instead of him being a quirky character. Even Nintendo seems to hold this opinion of Luigi, as he always somehow gets the haunted Mansion or some other place full of supernatural activity.

This move set is pretty cool and all, but as a Luigi main, I would prefer that Luigi stay the same for Smash 5. I understand that a lot of his moves don’t have much direct influence from his appearances, but Luigi’s kit is so specialized in the way that the player must use it that changing even one or two of his moves could completely change the character’s play style and viability. The only special I could reasonably see replaced without ruining his in game play style would be the green missile, since most Luigi mains don’t use that too often unless they are going for a cheesy misfire kill. Seriously, if you want to see real evidence of how integral all of Luigi’s individual moves are to his play style, go watch Elegant, that dude’s nuts. Overall, while it would be cool to see Luigi revamped, it would be practically impossible to do so without ruining how he plays. See, Luigi’s _moves_ don’t represent his personality, but the _playstyle_ crested by those moves does. To play Luigi you have to play in a wacky, wildcard sort of way while still doing your best to stay safe and no do anything too risky. To make a long comment short: You can’t change Luigi’s moves without changing Luigi. Anyways, nice video! Keep it up!

Personally, as Luigi’s Mansion is My Favorite Game and Luigi my smash Main, I wouldn’t mind if they incorporated his Poltergust into his Grab Game. A grab you can really move with? That sounds deadly. If not, then pull a Rosalina with Professor Egad. Instead of having have Mario represent the Galaxy Games by changing his moves, they made Rosalina to cover them. Giving Egad a move-set with the Poltergust 3000 and having Luigi wear the newer 5000 as cameos for his special wouldn’t be too bad. There’s just a LOT that can be done with the Poltergust as a whole, and we would get a new character and a direct rep from Luigi’s Mansion. But you can’t change Luigi’s Up B... or Side B... Or Neutral B... Or Down B... or aerials... or dash attack... or Taunts. They can change his grabs, final Smash, and smash attacks. As a Luigi Main, those whacky moves are essentials that make him why he is so fun to play as.

Honestly, these movesets "suck", and "blow" (in a good way, of course hahaha)! ;) Excellent moveset update as always, GX! :D That would be a great callback to the Mario & Luigi series by exposing the same exact red, and white-striped socks that Luigi wore in those games (in fact, I don't see why the Mario Bros. can't even have their M&L appearances as part of their alternate skintones), as well as having the same 3 colored balloons that Luigi wore as part of his Luigi's Balloon World appearance in one of Super Mario Odyssey's DLC packs for his Poltergust Berry Balloon recovery as you've mentioned! And hey, maybe even King Boo would be blown out of Luigi's Poltergust 3,000, since, SPOILER ALERT: Luigi captures him in both the original 2001 Luigi's Mansion on the Gamecube, and Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon on the 3DS in 2013 (which will also be the case for the upcoming 3DS remake of the original game too), so, of course, it would makes sense, and perhaps would even activate the Negative Zone, which was Luigi's Final Smash in Brawl, and would be a great callback to that! :D

They should just keep his Side, Down and Up B. All of those moves are perfect for recovery. The Green Misfire is very powerful and it goes even farther but it should just happen when the Green Missile is fully charged. The Luigi Cyclone is good for combos and if keep mashing B he'll rise up. The Super Jump Punch is better than Mario's and Dr Mario's versions, it KO's opponents at the start of the move but I wish it would go higher like it did in Brawl.

I feel like Smash 4 marked a very different shift in tone and expectations for Smash as a series. In 64, Melee, and Brawl, you didn't see characters be repressented by how they where in their games. You saw the _Smash_ version of those characters, and stages. It had a completely different tone, and I honestly like it better than straight up taking a place from a game with no changes or alterations. (NSMB U stage from Smash 4.) It just feels more creative when they do that. We wouldn't have stages like Kongo Jungle, Corneria, or even Peach's Castle represented the way they where without that creative liberty. I hope that Sakurai finds a way to keep the tone of the original Smashes, as Smash 4 felt a bit meh in the style category. Just my opinion though, I don't really care what Sakurai does, as long as it's Smash, I'm good.

you're 100% right actually all new character speculation tries to represent their game yet plenty of character movesets are just random attacks brought from a bunch of different games or completely made up in fact the only way captain falcon is representative of his game series is his high speed and high risk/reward playstyle this is also the reason a lot of movesets are super gimmicky and very out of place in smash

luigi lover and smash 4 luigi main here, gonna drop down some of my thoughts about this video I whole-heartedly agree about having the poltergust be a bigger part of luigi's moveset! I do have certain thoughts on the specials you mentioned though Neutral special: Honestly I have no problems with this one, so long as it still retains the uniqueness of luigi's fireballs compared to normal mario universe fireballs. Side special: I also agree with this for the most part, a unique way to keep the old move but just change it cosmetically, although I am worried of how it would work in the air, but then again it probably wouldn't be too hard to do it. Up special: I would go back on this completely, the super jump punch shows luigi's greater leaps than mario's, it's more "jumpy" (instant) than mario's, and the coins and shoryuken have made for some of the greatest laughs I've ever had, seriously. Your idea is a respectable, idea, but I just feel like it'd be somewhat boring, and perhaps too similar to villager's recovery. I just seriously love the super jump punch, or the shoryuken. Down special: Looks like it'd be functionally identical to something like mewto's disable or, to an extent, ryu's shadow focus. I just feel that the idea of luigi *cyclone* is a lot more interesting, I don't know exactly how to describe it but it also feels like part of him in smash, and sort of part of his character in a weird way. What I'm getting at is that luigi should be partly of his original smash wackiness, and part of his outside of smash self. I also have some ideas of my own. replace fireball with lightning, seriously why is it so forgotten that luigi can attack with thunder? back in superstar saga this was one of his key traits, there could be many ways it could be brought in, from a simple lightning shock that goes a bit of distance, or maybe he can even charge up the thunder sort of like samus' charge shot but probably not be able to store it, hell maybe even he can direct in which way it goes sort of how he shoots it downwards from above in super star saga's bros move "Thunder Bros.", or shooting it from below to above like the advanced version of the same move (probably without going underground). I think some of luigi's normals could make use of the hammer like he did in all (or most, not 100% sure) of the mario & luigi games, I do in fact like all of luigi's aerials as they are, and if they change he might lose his combo madness, but it could be something interesting to throw out there, like having back air have luigi take out his hammer and knock whoever is behind them, or something more logical like a smash attack, they could even have the forward smash's animation be just like how it is in the mario & luigi games, hold it behind his head, charge it up, SMACK!! Also about the grab, I love the idea of having something so unique, but I have worries that people would complain why luigi is the only one with something so out there, so a simple tether grab esque thing could work too. I feel positive about this but am worried about people saying it's weird and too finicky or something of the sorts. About your final smash idea: Oh hell to the yeah it sounds awesome, but I also have an idea of my own, something simple yet effective, a massive storm of thunder that luigi has control over, deciding where it is strongest (via control stick), or maybe a combination of both with the boos being electrified but that might be too out there. About your idea for luigi calling out for mario: I personally feel this would be... how do I say it... I feel that it wouldn't make much sense, smash bros is, in a way, the mario party of fighting games, a place where people are having fun duking it out against each other, this is where luigi seems to be the bravest, and suddenly he's calling for mario? I really am not sure how to describe this but it just feels that luigi is not in a place to be calling out for mario's help. about your taunt ideas: the battle dance animation, I actually would love this to be one of luigi's victory animations, and there would be a 100% chance of him and mario doing their victory animations if they win in a team battle. As for having it in game, yeah I think this could work too, but not completely, as it would need to be an infinite taunt a cancellable one, actually this would still work why am I saying this. The ghost capture animation for a taunt: Eh, I'm not so sure about this one, as I feel this gets beaten by the battle dance animation, I really don't think down taunt would get replaced (with all of it's glorry, praise the down taunt), and the uptaunt is... I don't know but it feels right for luigi, but maybe that's just me liking the up taunt's multiple poses that go by with the snap of a finger. Another little thing I'd like to say, if possible, as a cherry on top of the cake thing, have mario and luigi's moves interact with each other in an interesting way in team battles, such as the f-smash I mentioned earlier with luigi's hammer, it could burry mario underground for him to move around and jump out of it like in superstar saga! Only in team battles though. I think this could be an interesting thing to smash all around, such as palutena giving a power of flight to pit that allows him to shoot arrows during it (also I secondary main pit btw). *CONCLUSION:* I really like your ideas, despite the fact I disagreed with some of them, but that's just human nature. I hope that luigi does in fact get some changes from smash 4 to switch, but not too many to the point that it's a completely different character. Great video! For his Nuetral Special, he wields the Strolbulb. Then for the side special he uses the Poltergust but he would have to hold it to suck up. Other than that pressing it would blow a blast of air. Up special is a blow away, down special is a element choice. The entire moveset would utilize concept Poltergust attacks. The Final Smash is Mr. L robot. Luigi puts on the costume and hits everyone in his way. It would put the enemies in space and they would be blasted with everything before ending with a laser.

Just wanted to spout off some ideas 1. I like your idea for the side special, but it seems like you've forgotten about the Poltergust 4000 from Mario Kart DS, which would be a much better fit. 2. Though a few things I'd have to say: #1: Luigi needs to keep the fireball, but Nintendo need to change it to match the Lightning abilities from SSS onwards. #2: Luigi riding on the poltergust would end up looking more like a reference to the hidden mansion Boolossus fight rather than SSS, which is exactly what you would be going for. #3: Since we keep the lightning, we could have the elements be for each smash, so Dsmash could be throwing some fire at the ground i.e. fireblast (1 click on the left stick) and so on. #4: I was thinking for a final smash, the basic poltergust from S4 is still there, but rather than just spewing all of it back out, he puts it into the Ghost Portrificationizer and we get to watch them go through ala Kirby's cooking pot final smash. Depending on how close the person was and how much percent/damage they are on, you could get rewarded with a bronze, gold or silver rank, and each would give a drop to match that, like bronze would drop some food, silver would drop a fairy bottle and gold would drop a heart piece.

I think that mario calling taunt can turn into a taunt who luigi laughs on mario,if mario it's stunned(reference to the luigi's mansion ending)

Outside of Luigi's up-tilt, I think Luigi's Smash Ultimate Moveset is hecking perfect! You guys even predicted Luigi's Grab Attacks & Throws as well, so good job, men! :D 👍 (I know i'm slightly a year late from commenting this, but still lol 😅)
