ஐய்யா என் தமிழ் ஆசான் என்று கூறுவதில் எனக்கு மிக பெருமை மற்றும் கர்வமும் கூட. 1970 களில் நான் ஆங்கில பத்திரிகை துணை ஆசிரியராக இருந்தபொழுது என் அன்னை " உனக்கு தாய்மொழி தமிழ் அதனை முழுமையாக கற்றுக்கொள் என்று கூறி அவள் ஆசானான உம்மிடம் அனுப்பினார்கள். இப்போது 70 அகவை கடந்தாலும், கடல் கடந்து கனடாவில் மகனுடன் வசித்தாலும், தினமும் பண் இலக்கியங்கள் படிக்கிறேன், வேண்டுபவர்களுக்கு இலவசமாக கற்பிக்கிக்கிறேன். வாழ்க தமிழ் என்றென்றும் வாழ்க ஆசிரியர் புகழ் ஓம் நமசிவாய சுநா ரானா

Great Tamil Scholar and worked tirelessly for the welfare of language and strove for establishing Tamil Nationalist movement. However, he switched frequently his political stance.His contribution to the language was immense. The bicameral house was converted to a unicameral house by MGR due to self motivated reason for Vennirai Adai Nirmala as he could not make her to make it through the legislative assembly. His statue was unveiled by Kalaignar during his last term (2010) and it stands aloft at the junction of Pondy Bazaar in Chennai.
