He/ she is head over heels for you. If he/ she doesn’t see you as “the one”, they will not try to win you back even-though they maybe having self-esteem issue.

Why should i want someone who secretly hates themself? It's not worth it. When i had low self esteem i was attracted to that but now, i honestly teach myself to not give a fuck because i don't need someone who fucks with my selfesteem. It depends, if they are aware of what they did wrong (esoecially after you pointed it out). If they want you, pushing them away will work. If they dont want you, you will know soon enough. They wont admit to wronging you , and wont fight for you either.
