Maasai-warrior style high jump in Africa

Maasai warriors make the high jump, not in Olympic fashion but in Maasai warrior-style, a vertical jump from a standing position. Athletes must touch a high line with the top of their heads.
The Maasai are a Nilotic ethnic group inhabiting southern Kenya and northern Tanzania. They are among the best known local populations due to their residence near the many game parks of the African Great Lakes, and their distinctive customs and dress.

In that competition, how do the judges compensate for individual's height? The taller the athlete, the less he has to jump to touch the bar with his head. Why aren't measurements taken from the height the feet are off the ground?

I can't think but find it is so unfair how they measure. They measure jump + body height. So when a mark is at 2 m (6f 6.7 in) and a1,9 m (6f 2.8 in) guy has to jump 20 cm (7,8 in) to reach it a 1.8 m (5f 5,9 in) guy has to jump 30 cm (11.8 in). And when you are 2.1 you don't have to jump at all. I know that Body height is an advantage but it is not necessarily a part of the measurement in a competition.
