Of all the songs I’ve written over the years, “Kob Nag” (Rainfall) is one of the most personal. It is a tribute of sorts - a tribute to the sadness I’ve felt and the defeats I’ve suffered throughout my musical journey.
You might ask, “why write a tribute to the bad times?”
The answer is simple. Because of these struggles, battles, and failures, I will never forget why I work so hard to do what I do - why I stand tall no matter what comes my way. You see, rainy days are inevitable in our lives, but what is most important is how we seek shelter during the storm.
By standing in the rain, I learned that I am my own shelter, my own “umbrella,” and my own source of strength. Though the song reminds me of difficult times, it is ultimately empowering. It reminds me that I will not be defeated and that rainy days are necessary if we want to truly enjoy the beautiful ones.
Though my rainstorms are not the same as yours, I have no doubt that you’ve had plenty of rainy days in your life. No doubt, both you and I will have many more before our journey is over. I pray that you too will find your strength in the storm, and find the courage to overcome your challenges and forge your own path forward.
