Maa Vue - Tu Moo (Official Music Video)

This was a beautiful song and a lovely music video, Maa! Thank you for giving us such a masterpiece, it has been on repeat since it came out for me! For those that are slightly confused about the story in the music video, I offer what I understood from it. I can't say it's verbatim what Maa and her team had in mind, but it's just what I interpreted. In the folktale Niam Nkauj Zuag Paj thiab Txiv Nraug Ntsuag, the scene shown is after the ruins of their relationship. Ntsuag had been enamored and bewitched by Niam Nkauj Kub Kaws and kicked out his beloved wife, Zuag Paj. After realizing his mistakes, he visited Zuag Paj and she told him that she was promised to another man and was to wed soon. If he wanted to save her from the marriage, he needed to fill up 9 buckets/tubs of water. (That's what the guy was laying on top of in the beginning of the mv) She and her to-be husband should be passing over that area during their wedding and the tubs of water would serve as mirrors. After filling up the buckets, Ntsuag was tired so he fell asleep. He almost missed Zuag Paj passing over into the heavens. The creativity here in the music video though, is that Ntsuag goes into a dream, and he meets Zuag Paj one last time as she wears her attire about to wed to someone else. (That's why when the man turns away and turns back she is gone) Zuag Paj, however, passes over Ntsuag in real time and drops her promise bracelet and then Ntsuag awakens. Truly a heartbreaking, "tu moo" moment.

Loved the dream-like state and flashes of memories of both orphan boy and the dragon princess that is conveyed in this MV. Anyone who knows this hmong folklore knows what happened to the dragon princess who was betrayed by the orphan boy she loved and returns back home. The heart ache. Beautiful MV.

Cool song and mv effects but a little lost on the beginning story to the acting with Chinese clothes scenes and Hmong clothes mix. When I saw preview pics of the mv, I was assuming maybe the story will be about them being together as Hmong lovers in one lifetime and became broken lost lovers in the Chinese lifetime lol.

If you read from the beginning story it's based from the hmong legend/movie Niam Nkauj Zuag Paj. It's the scene where she is getting married and he sets 9 barrels of water to wait for her to see her reflection in the water since she's flying in the sky to go get married. But he fell asleep and was dreaming so he missed out on her flying pass already that's why she left the bracelet for him to know that she came and passed by already. And that's how they didn't get together.
