@@maximgavrilov2977 It'll come around, it always does one way or another. Every medium starts creative, eventually develops a fanbase, goes on to make some decent money, creativity peaks as interest in this new thing goes global, focus groups and producers hone in on what generates the most money, creativity and quality dwindles, fanservice takes hold, this goes on for a while, people get tired of it, a few creative works rise out of the ashes as shareholders and production companies decide to pursue something different to revitalize the market, fanbases solidify between those who prefer fanservice and those who care about the artform for what it can provide, new easy-access platforms make it so money can be generated by both approaches, the medium stabilizes, indie scene emerges from those who grew up on these works as the tools become readily available.

@@asliceofloaf1984 Yeah I agree, Mushoku Tensei is great! Also, like our old D&D content, there is no forced diversity like they are pushing on all of us with ESG and DEI scores and all that Blackrock cultural marxism nonsense. Japan fortunately has largely turned its back on the actual cultural appropriation that these cultural marxist ghouls have been pushing onto us. Long live those that respect true fantasy and make new stories, instead of trying to rewrite old ones. Though I don't think that we will ever see something as great as Record of Lodoss War being made again, we can however appreciate how lucky we are that it was made in the first place.

+XXSesshoumaruXX Glad you found it. I'll never forget the first time I listened to this song over 20 years ago. It was absolutely hypnotizing. I probably came close to wearing out the rewind button on my VHS player. Chronicles of the Heroic Knight I found rather forgettable (although I love RoLW). However, this theme song is a masterpiece. I don't think the theme music from any other anime has come even close to surpassing it.

Also the animation of this opening fits perfectly with the music and they give you an "epic feel" like you're actually experiencing a fantasy adventure, I think is the best opening of all time (it surpass show's like Stand Alone Complex 2n Gig). A shame that the show is nothing like it's opening, I was expecting more.

The dark night sky separates us to lay bare our hearts as they call out to each other. Cast off your useless trappings. Some things can only be seen when you've lost everything. [1] Oh wind, I will stand and face you! I will go to the sea of anguish, though bonds cut my chest, and the crushing waves are endless. (Yeah yeah yea~~h, Hey hey he~y hey he~~y) What does everyone seek by fighting? Does spilled blood cause flowers to bloom? Until the precious tomorrow is in my hands... Until the day we meet... Oh wind, I will stand and face you! I will go and head for the brilliance. Embracing prayer to my heart, I wander the seemingly dark future. Oh wind, I am not afraid! Love is the miracle I have found! It's my joy to believe in you. The storm blows so that we might realize [our] love.

I just had this really weird moment. So Maaya Sakamoto has LONG been an icon in Japanese music and anime. I remember learning about her very soon after I got into anime all the way back in the early 2000s and I knew even back then her career extended at least into the 90s. She voiced Hitomi in Escaflowne (1996), sang for this soundtrack in 1998 and has been in a gazillion other things including recent stuff like Sword Art Online, FF7 Remake, Kingdom Hearts 3, Persona series, Fruits Basket (reboot), and Demon Slayer. If you'd asked me how old she is I'd've been like "Well hell, she's been at this for what? 30 years now? She's gotta be at least 50, maybe even closer to 60 right?". Nope. she was born in 1980. She's only a few years older than me. I often forget how the idol industry in Japan is well known for starting them young. She was a 15 year old girl voicing a 15 year old girl in early 1996. Definitely one of those "So what have you done with YOUR life?!" moments.
@explosivehotdogs
@explosivehotdogs Жыл бұрын
she also did the Escaflowne intro, did various other pieces in the Escaflowne soundtrack, performed Yubiwa for the movie OST... the list goes on.

To be fair: the Japanese, until today, raise their children to think about their career and community, and to be achievers (albeit in corporate or government jobs which are stale beyond measure) - and this happens even more at schools than at home. Meanwhile American children (which, I asume based on your account's content, is your case) are raised to be extremely individualistic and to think more about their feelings than about their lives and career, sometimes even to the level of telling them they cannot be wrong and their peers need to adjust to them, not vice versa - and this has, roughly, started in the 80's. So yes, to some degree it's a "so what have you done with your life" moment, but you've also been raised in an environment antagonistic to achieving great things (although if you're from Texas that doesn't apply so heavily), and so it's no wonder you weren't a rising star at 15.

The darkness of the night sky separates us Our hearts, calling out to each other, are laid bare. When all ornaments are thrown away and everything is lost Something becomes visible. I fight against the wind And I wish to go to the sea of pain. These bonds are carving through this chest The breaking wave knows no end. Will no one oppose what I am searching for? Can my overflowing blood make the flowers bloom? Until the precious tomorrow is at hand Until the day we meet I fight against the wind And I wish to go and gaze upon the shining light I hold tight a prayer in my chest I wander in the darkness of the future I do not fear the wind Especially love is a miracle we keep discovering Happiness believes in you and The storm is blowing for the recognition of love

Essa música é tão bela, mas tão bela, que faz você imaginar que vive em um mundo de RPG ou algo semelhante, logo no final de sua campanha, tocando essa musica de fundo, simplesmente fantástico.

There is so much going on in this piece that it's hard to think about it all at once. The vocals are beautiful, of course. Even without knowing the words, it's easy to understand the pleading, the declaration, the yearn. The minimal percussion evokes travel for me. The real magic, though, I think is in the bass tones. Paired with the voice, it feels like being led somewhere dangerous. The refrain affirms courage, the break between verses is dripping with strife. A lot of theme songs simply bask in the heroic, not bothering to delve into the darker side of the fantasy quest. Sea of Miracles turns that around and embraces the hardship, acknowledging that there is no adventure without peril, no glory without risk, no love without fear.

precisely, the game "Lodoss War Labyrinth" It is about Deedlit going through a duel as it has been 100 years since he met Parn. She is in a terrible depression due to the death of her lover and the player must help her.
@matthewmuir8884
@matthewmuir8884 Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure; I'm sure it would be sad when Parn inevitably grows old and dies while Deedlit remains young, but I don't think it would be as sad as many would suggest. Hear me out: A while back, I was researching Scottish folklore and I came across a type of mermaid called a Ceasg: capable of living for thousands of years, and with some stories having them marry a human and live on land with them. In those stories, the man would inevitably grow old and die, but the stories don't end there: they end by mentioning that the man's descendants would usually become great sailors because the Ceasg would watch over them. With how full of life Deedlit is, while I do think she would definitely mourn Parn, I don't think she would let it consume her; instead, I think she would take an approach similar to the Ceasg: she'd happily tell their half-elven kids all about their father Parn: a hero who saved Lodoss from a terrible war and made Deedlit the happiest elf in all of Lodoss.

This brings back memories of my time in an anime club when I was in university. We watched this series, along with many others. This song stands out, as well as the Escaflowne OP (same singer and composer). However, I do love the OAV series much more than the TV series. Loved the OP of the OAV, too.
