Mabie Todd Swallow Red Celluloid Wet Noodle

In this video we take a look at a really nice Mabie Todd Swallow ringtop in a beautiful deep red celluloid. This pen has a seriously flexible no.2 14kt gold nib. I'd say it is worthy of the wet noodle designation.

Without taking away from the skill and rhythm it takes to do this, it’s genuinely incredible that the feeds on some vintage pens keep up the way they do. Would/could you carry this around with you daily without it losing much ink into the cap? I find my really wet writers leak the most with temperature and pressure changes, though I don’t really have that problem in general.

Do you remember when you bought this pen if it was advertised as a wet noodle? I've been trying to get lucky and find myselkf a wet noodle on eBay for a few months but I can't seem to find anything I can afford and the pens that don't mention how soft the nibs are in the description have all ended up being not as soft as I would like. Maybe if you have any tips for finding a pen like this on eBay you could message me? I would LOVE to have a pen with a nib like this, something like this pen would be my grail pen for sure. I would love to even have just one wet noodle. Thanks.

I have a video about buying pens flexible nibs on ebay. I would check that out. If you know what you're looking for you can get lucky and find very flexible nibs for $50-100, but it is not easy. For ever 10 pens I buy on eBay on a whim based on visual inspection of the pictures (which I like to think I am good at) I maybe get 1 very flexible nib. To bug a noodle without taking that chance you will be looking in the $500-1000 range. I wouldn't pre-occupy yourself with finding a "wet noodle". There is much else to enjoy in the fountain pen world for much more reasonable money. Thanks for watching; this nib is spectacular.

I must say that the writing sample section is truly like being a drunk with your head about 6 inches from the surface of the bar. Wonderful. Now the perfect sign-off to the writing sample section would have been writing the price of what you paid for this beautiful soft-as-butter nib, although frankly (& no offense meant), it would have also been wonderful to watch the tines catch on an upstroke and completely Bend backward to the point of splattering ink all over the page. No Malice, just comedy.
