Caren Evans Thank you very much Caren, and remember to be careful getting the grinder into tight spaces, grinders tend to kick back a little bit, and if it's for grinding small amounts of material I would suggest a flap sander disk, they are amazing. ATB Darren

Thanks for the video. I was thinking of grabbing one of these from B&Q for cutting some old thick nails from a fallen down garden fence, don't know when I'll use it again, so didn't want to spend a fortune, but was iffy about the cheap price. You sold it. One niggle... you kept going out of shot when doing something interesting :)

Excellent thank you And yes limited space and camera field of view has caught me out a few times with being out of shot. Reminders like this keep me more aware when filming, so thank you very much for your positive criticism Spooky 👍👍👍

3:19 I noticed your locking wrench went the same as mine. Frankly the weakest part of the kit. Otherwise a half decent grinder with some aftermarket upgraded blades, until I can afford a cordless Milwaukee to go with my combi/ impact combo.

Hi Darren, thanks for the video. One thing I discovered in the documentation: if you are using one of the thick cutting disks, you reverse the lock nut. I appear to have misplaced the spacer ring that goes between the disk and the lock nut, so need to go and look for that in my shed tomorrow. Cheers, Craig
@oraclescave4 жыл бұрын
Yes, the spindle nut is the bottom one and the locking nut is the top one. They can be changed around for different type disks. As there is, chainsaw disks, stone cutting disk, metal cutting disks, grinding disks, ceramic disks, flap disks, scotchbrite disks. So they can be changed around to grab onto and support. You must have the spindle nut already on your grinder if you have used it already, as it wouldn't work without one. It's just a thick disk exactly the same as the locking nut, same colour and size. It's not a thin washer you are looking for, it's just the thick base cap that looks like your locking nut. 👍👍👍
@craigs664 жыл бұрын
@@oraclescave Thanks Darren. You don't have a spare spindle nut for a MacAllister MAG600-115 do you?! Been in my shed to have a look.
@oraclescave4 жыл бұрын
@@craigs66 I dont have a spare, but nearly all grinders are made the same, you could probably pick up a spindle nut on Ebay for a couple if pounds, just make sure it's for a 115mm grinder, it's just a thick washer with threads in the middle. Just get a chinese special, nothing fancy. 👍👍👍
@craigs664 жыл бұрын
@@oraclescave Thanks for the tip, Darren. I think the spindle nut I am missing doesn't have a thread is has two bevelled edges. cheers
@oraclescave4 жыл бұрын
@@craigs66 yes most of the spindle nuts are just a plate, its the locking nut that's threaded, correct. Should be pennies online, I'm sure you will find one, just remember to search for... angle grinder part not just GRINDER part. 👍👍👍

dident get a disc in the box when i bought one could not find the bore size for the disc in the manual or in your film so no help
@oraclescave4 жыл бұрын
Just a generic 115mm disc, they all have similar size hole. Most manufacturers use same size. That's why it doesn't state the size One disc fits all
@Kushothe6 жыл бұрын
How's the grinder doing, mate? I'm planning on buying the 120mm variant, cheap, looks solid and all the reviews are absolutely positive. Your opinion would really help.
@oraclescave6 жыл бұрын
Kushothe it's doing fine bud, definitely go for the bigger one though, I upgraded the guard and use 5" disks, I should have got the 5" grinder, but so far no issues and I use it for cutting grinding, sanding, wire wheeling. Good quality for so cheap, and the plastic is fibre resin so it's very strong not just pretend strong. Go for it bud 👍 ATB Darren

Did you say that this locks on when you push the on switch up from the 0 position ? I've only used it from the 1 position and find my thumb has had enough already. I've also got quite a bit of play before it actually starts up... I did get it for some grinding and cutting but have just bought some flap wheels for sanding use as I've got a lot of painted outdoor furniture and found that this little grinder takes off the paint so much easier than a sander.... grateful if you could pass on the anything else you've found that may be quirky.
@oraclescave5 жыл бұрын
The button is supposed to lock on, mine has started to pop and let go, so I have to hold it, very annoying. But flap sanding is amazing, you will never use a grinding disk again, flap Sanders do it all. Great little grinder, just remember it's a cheap brushed motor, so dont have it running for half an hour straight, make sure it gets regular cool downs after every few minutes of use and it will last you a decent time. My play was in the fastener for the grinding guard, it kept rattling loose while I was using it. I use mine for sanding, cutting, grinding, wire wheeling and polishing. Still going strong, and if it breaks I can just return for a brand new one. If I wanted heavy duty for long runtime, I would never get one of this grade, because its asking to much from the cheaper old style motor. But for D.I.Y and simple tasks around the shed/workshop, projects it's more than enough. And the warranty/guarantee i can use in a heartbeat. I actually thought when I bought this that the bearings would not last long, mine makes some noise but has been in non stop use. 👍👍👍

@@oraclescave Thanks for the prompt reply. I'll check out my 'buttons' a bit further - I was getting worried after seeing a few down reviews but, as you say, will be great for odd jobs and not having to pay hundreds of pounds for them. Sanding just a little bit was damned good and fast so yes... leave the sanders to do the 'smoothing' but this can also do the shaping if I ever need to do them. Thanks again and I'll check out some more of your vids.

i find that grinder to be awkward to switch on and off easily, do you?
@oraclescave3 жыл бұрын
Yes, the body of the grinder is a bit chunky and it can be awkward to stretch your thumb across and work one handed. But most grinders of this size are the same, bigger grinders have a trigger. 👍👍👍

Thank you for the excellent video. The user instruction manual made no sense at all - refered to parts that weren't show in the illustration. I needed it for a specific job £25 filled the bill. Some of my other tools that I use all the time are more expensive brands.

Yes all the cheaper generic tools are prone to bad apples, but this usually shows itself straight away or before the warranty runs out, and usually getting a replacement solves the issue for a more long term tool. My grinder still works, still use it for loads of different jobs and its paid for itself many many times over, and for the price just can't be beat, and you dont have to really worry about dropping it or getting the dewalt sticker scratched lol But yeah LEMONS are more common in cheaper brands but they have a no quibble warranty and instant replacement or refund, all that for 25 bucks, CRAZY. P.S maybe your brushes are broken, replacements are less than a pound, very common for these cheap brushes to just crack and sometimes get stuck, just need popped out with a screwdriver and new ones put in.
@bobmcgee78054 жыл бұрын
I have already have the Larger grinder. That still works fine.. i am sure it will be replaced . If it happens twice .. i will get an up market unit like Makita .. and yes twice the price. But they are a quality. So i will wait until this virus slows down and i can get some responce from the Seller B&Q who are usually excellent at exchange or refunds .. 😎

Would this cut a gatepost
@oraclescave3 жыл бұрын
Yes, this is probably the only tool 99% of people would use to attempt cutting a gatepost. Just make sure you use a metal CUTTING disk Not a GRINDING disk. There is usually a picture on the disk showing a metal joist, and they are very thin compared to a grinding disk. But should take you less than a minute to chop it off, then if there is any exposed sharp metal, you can use the grinding disk to rub all over it and smooth it down. My grinder came with one disk of each, but they are very cheap. 👍👍👍

I made a grinder key years ago because it came without one. I used an old thin flat spanner and drilled 2 holes at the right distance apart and forced 2 nails cut to size into them. It worked fine for me, just make sure the holes are just smaller than the nails so it's a tight fit. 👍👍👍
