Hey, Brodoski. Can we play the Am7 in another way (from the 5th fret) instead? It just seems easier to shift to D9 that way. Why did you chose this form of Am7 I'm curious?

That's a good question, first of all, because mac demarco does it this way. And because open chords sometimes give a more full and greater sound which fits well in this song.

it is. it’s also a bm7 when he says am7 and an e9 when he says d9 but he’s referring to what chord it looks like relative to the capo, so everything is actually 2 half steps higher than what he says.
