Hi, in my MacBook Air the keys - q,w,e,r,t,y,u,i,o are malfunctioning and typing weird symbols. I previously gave it to an Apple service centre and they asked me to replace my Mac's battery. Hello can you please help me? Whenever I try to type the “U” “I” and “O” letters, it seems like it won’t let me type them and they don’t appear, this isn’t an issue in the actual keyboard, the issue is in the computer itself because i tested this out with a different keyboard that is connected to a cable and it wouldn’t type the letters “E”, “I”, “O” and “U”. since it won’t type those letters I cant log into my mac anymore because my password contains the letter “I” and therefor i have to log in to the Guest Account. I have tried multiple solutions including restarting my computer multiple times, unplugging my computer and plugging it back in, shutting off my computer and then back on multiple times and also turning my keyboard on and off multiple times but it still won’t type those certain letters. This issue appeared yesterday but it wouldn’t let me type the “M” letter instead and whenever I typed the “G” letter it would just come out as a weird symbol..I gave up and shut down my keyboard and computer and went to bed and when I woke up and turned on my computer and my keyboard and typed those letters they worked again but then the problem switched over to the “I” “U” and “O” letters and no matter how many times i restart the computer/keyboard it won’t let me type them in. (i know this was a long paragraph and i apologize for it but can some people please kindly help me out so that i can resolve this annoying issue?)

hello for some reason my mac only has the input sources option but not the change keyboard option. enabling then disabling the sticky keys work but only for a short while, then it starts typing symbols again. and by a short while I mean just a couple of letters or secs. example I will type as far as I can as I have just recently reset the sticky keys from this point: ´≈˚˚˚˚˚˙ƒ∂å example example example examp¬´∆ß∆ß∆ I also cannot hold down a letter to type many the same letter repeatedly I have to keep retyping it.

For me, on my apple keyboard, when I click 1 I get 19, when I click 9 I get 19. When I click a I get al, when I click L, I get al. When I click Z , I get z. , when I click "." I get z. When I click o , I get oq. When I click q , I get oq. Do you think any of the solutions could still work?

Friend - Seem to be a keyboard hardware issue (or struck keys) or Water damage. Turn off System, please press all the keys on keyboard once and see if there any keys struck in pressed position. Clean with soft cloth and pace it in sunlight for 10 mins, cool it down then try turning on the system. Apart from these pls follow the steps in this video.

thank you, thank you, thank you! It just needed a good clean. I put a netting veggie bag over the end of my vacuum cleaner brush (no desire to lose keys!) and tilted it around while vacuuming. FIXED IT! Did the rest of my computer keyboards! xxxx

1. Just thing of 2 unconnected points A and B in any key of your keyboard. 2. In every key of your keyboard there is s little spring, so when you press a key once it should establish connection between A and B. Then the spring should automatically release the connection. 3. If the above said hardware machanism fails for some of the keys, for example for command key, it will get strucked in A B connected possition for ever. 4.Try to gently release using pointed object if you see any such struck keys. 5. Dear Friend, You case seems to be a liquid damage or mechanical damage. Any ways 1. pls follow the steps in this video. 2. Clean it completely especially gently clean the key joints with soft brush. If you have air blower pls use Air blower to such the dirt, then use fast air steam to blow the remaining dirt away. 3. Place it under hot sun rays for 1 hour or so. 4. Bring it in cool down for atleast1 hours. 5. Try to see if it works. If not no way you have to take it to service center and fix the hardware issue. I had an issue with my keyboard where I was typing out special characters instead of normal letters. Here's the FIX if you have this issue: get a hairdryer and blow dry your keyboard.

None of these fixed my two-week-old Macbook Pro. I called Apple and got the worse tech I have ever encountered in over 20 years of calling Apple. He had no clue. He had a terrible accent and I'm not being an asshole about it because I am currently learning Spanish, Portuguese, French, and Arabic. He had no business being in tech support. In the end and after over an hour, he recommended I return the Mac for a new one. This morning, I looked at the top of the screen and noticed that my American flag was no longer present. This flag is used to toggle between American English and Latin American Spanish keyboards. It must have been toggled somehow as I was typing. One click fixed the problem.

Brother, keep it under hot sun for sometime, cool it down to room temperature, see if it helps. if it did not then damage may be beyond recovery.

Don't know how it became active, I was simply typing away on Discord, and suddenly my keys started coming up as the Option-key special characters. Out of all these options, the only thing that worked was resetting my NV-Ram. Thank goodness, for that. Goodness, Apple, I've never experienced this technical difficulty, before. Brand new Macbook Air, too, barely 2 months old.

I was stuck in the login screen with these random symbols arabic type stuff. Like wtf but then yeah resetting NVRAM worked so do it first. Restart and hold Option Command and P and R and check if that works
