Late iMac 2013 running open core legacy patcher 1.5.0. Keyboard works and then stops working. Replaced a Bluetooth keyboard with a wired keyboard. But issue persists - keyboard works for a few minutes and then stops. Wired mouse works without issue. Tried all these steps. Updated to the new open core legacy patcher 2.0 and also MacOS 6:49 14.7… Thinking it’s an open core issue?

GREAT ADVICE!! ONE OF THE VERY BEST VIDEO'S I'VE SEEN IN A VERY LONG TIME. Funny bc my issue was the cap lock stopped working. I called and was on the phone with apple for 3.5 hours. But they didn't help me one bit. I just had this gut feeling that this happened when a auto update was done in the middle of the night. So I opted to sit it out and wait and wa-la after about a good month there was a newer update. So I did do that update and now the cap lock works perfectly. Go figure!

Thank you Gary. I am experiencing a weird situation with my Macbook air M1 lately. I use Logic Pro for music composition and for some reason my keyboard shortcuts are not responding like they used to anymore in Logic Pro. For example, in logic when you press the key C it normally triggers the cycle fonction in the main window and when you press the return key it brings your locator back to the beginning of a track. Now when I hit the return key there nothing happening and the C key is playing the track instead of opening or closing the cycle mode. These sre the 2 only shortcuts not doing what they are normally doing and I don't know how to reset it bakc to the logic shortcuts settings.

Oh my God Gary you are the best! pressing the option key five times was on which I did not know. I was using Final Cut Pro and trying to add a marker by using options + M, it wasn’t working. I have an odd one which seemed to have started after a Ventura upgrade. When I startup the first 4 or so letters I type don't show. But everything from then on is fine. Like the keyboard is slow connecting.

Turning the keyboard upside down and tapping it at various angles can get rid of some obstructive grit from under troublesome keys.

That works to get rid of the crumbs and dust that find their way in. Using a can of air to blow into the keyboard when the keyboard is upside down can work (just don't hold the can of air upside down when using it; that is a trick used to clear out fluids in the nozzle of a paint sprayer, but it also ejects particles from a can of air).

Mouse keys are real guys 😭😭 I've been struggling for years, watched plenty of videos and never did they mention mouse keys, I got a new keyboard the old mini one with the batteries and got used to it hid my magic keyboard after that till i got a new mac and the problem came up again. My issue wasnt listed here. i have a swedish magic keyboard (lightning) and everytjing works fine even special letters like "ÅÄÖ" But whenever i want to type the "@" symbol i get "™" instead. i've tried all things i can think of without success, and it doesn't seem to be a common issue since i cant find any helpful info. Check your Input Sources in System, Settings, Keyboard. Make sure you have the right keyboard selected and there you can see a map as to what corresponds to what.

Wireless? So you are trying to use an external keyboard, not the built-in one? Does the built-in one work fine? If so, sounds like the external one is broken, or perhaps if it is a third-party one someone is misconfigured (contact the maker for support).

Nice job! Saved my Magic Keyboard. On a iMac, I found it difficult to delete the 'other' keyboard. It needs the +/- action on the bottom left of the 'Input Sources' panel.

Hi! my issue s that often the same key starts [[[[[ by itself and goes really fast not letting my type anything, and when I press p[ it comes with p[ and there is no way to stop it unless I lift the cover up a bit. After awhile it starts doing it again... I cant type anything when this ocurrs.

I have an older keyboard for my Mac that you had to plug in. A few months ago it started typing endless periods. I then bought a new magic keyboard and it worked fine, so I'm sure that the older keyboard developed a hardware problem. Maybe some dirt got into the period key? The magic keyboard is so nice that I won't go back to the old one anyway.

"Sticky" keys are often the result of a build up of lotion from the hands leaking into the mechanics. It could also be lint piling up inside the key. And it could be just a failing spring that is supposed to return the key to its proper height.

Hi, I try try to fix a 2011 Macbook Pro (most of commands are not working and anyway now I don't have any os system on my HD ). When I try to reset the PRAM/NVRAM pressing alt+cmd+P+ R the mac doesn't boot twice and don't chime twice although I can read dow the screen left corner two little words flashing quickly as long as I press the commands, it says "reason nvram". How do you interpret "reason nvram" in English and as a computer expert ?

I don't know if it's a feature or a bug but my mouse goes to sleep after I haven't used it for a while, like an hour or two. I have tried to find a way to turn that off as its annoying to move the mouse around for a minute or so before it "appears" on the screen. Any thoughts? Appreciate it.

this is great! I just fixed a previous issue logging in because the A key stopped working and then noticed that the languages on the keyboard were set improperly by default. After changing it, I thought nothing of it because it's a kids laptop. Came up with a work around and was sure that I was going to have to replace the keyboard. Opened it up the Am to test it and the A key was working! I was sure the whole keyboard was shorting out🤣🤐. Then after watching your video i realized it was the Language that was making the A key invalid😅. Thank for the visual walk through it definitely saved me $200.

All of the things I talk about here are fixes on the Mac side. Are you saying you connected it to a PC and the bottom row of letters isn't working? Then it is probably broken. Unless it is brand new and still under warranty, I doubt it is worth the cost of fixing.

So I tried my old sticky keyboard and it stopped working. I have been using Macs since the Lisa in 1985 and many other updates since, but I and never came across this problem.
