You died right at the same moment i took my one and only shot of heroin.. I found out about your death the next day, staring at the bruise on my arm and battling the disgust I had within myself. Your honesty and passion in this last album helped me straighten out my life... My dad got to see his son sober before he died because of you. I know this is for no one but myself, but fuck man its hard down here.. rest easy and Goodbye Mac.

Congrats man! Fuck I wish I can say the same type of shit. I’m clean off meth atm but some days are so fucking hard, even years after my last hit some days it still feels like my “last hit” you know? Like a lie I’m living til I can get back in the fray, but I try everyday to ignore the voices that say get high. It’s dam hard down here, you’re right mate. But one day at a time, one song at a time, we get to change our lives one decision at a time and spent one more sober day with someone we love if we lucky

I went from being an incredibly depressed addict, using to numb the pain, to being clean for almost 5 years & being on medication & in therapy. I never thought I could feel this free & happy. Don't give up. Update: I'm still doing great, I'm on the lowest dose of antidepressants they make. I feel the sort of happiness I haven't felt since I was a kid. Life is difficult & beautiful, as it tends to be. Still thanking Mac every day for helping save me. We do get better & we can stay clean. Remember the pride you feel being your best self.

The comments section on all of his songs are filled with people supporting each other and spreading positivity in the face of addiction, loss, and whatever else life has to throw at us. It’s 2023… I’m a 37 year old red neck that listens to old stuff (old rock and old country and a little old hip hop). I always knew and heard of Mac in his day but never listened… 2009 has me shaken for sure. I can never understand the wisdom in younger artists as when I was in my early 20’s I was just an idiot. Whether it’s real wisdom or just “implied” wisdom I can appreciate it. And the beat of 2009 brings me right into the Atmosphere wheel house… grew up in the Twin Cities in the late 90’s and early 2000’s when Atmosphere was popping off here locally. What I can really appreciate about 2009 from Mac is how simple the beat and arrangement is (yes it’s a bit of a freestyle). The simplicity of it hits hard with me and my blues roots. Anyways… it’s 2023, I’m 37-38 (can’t remember exactly how old I am) and I’m just discovering Mac… shame on me!

My mother found two kittens tied up in a plastic bag in the middle of the road and brought them home. They're probably of two weeks. They're crying so hard for their mother and I did every thing that I could do to calm them down but they wouldn't stop crying. So I played this song on speaker and then they stopped crying and started to sleep. I've been playing this song every time they cry and it works so well. Thank you Mac! You really were an Angel.

Sometimes I read the heartwarming comments under these types of videos about how all these beautiful people who defeated addictions, found love, and just generally overcame the hurt, and listen to music like this (and hip-hop in general where rappers talk about a hard past), seeing the sheer inspiration that drips from the genre, but then I take a look at my own pampered ass and think, “if these people who were thrown the worst obstacles a man could ask for can make it in life, then I have no fucking excuse.” Sometimes I’ll try to relate to their life and equate parts of mine to someone else’s but it always ends up going something like “they had a reason to be sad at this moment that seems somewhat similar to one from yours, but you don’t. You live among the better of an age where everything is at your fingertips, you have no struggle at all, you have no reason to be sad. I know people who go to/went to bad schools, are foster kids, etc. and sometimes it just pains me to say that I am a homeschooled through a private religious school, that I have genuinely nice and caring parents, or even that I like something or that I’m good at something. I don’t know if it’s justified or plain selfishness and jealousy, but knowing I don’t struggle nearly as much as people from previous generations or even as much as my own peers makes me feel, in a way, like less of a person. I don’t know what I really want from writing this comment, I guess I just wanna get it off my chest.
@user-bp4qq7tt1u Жыл бұрын
Bro don't even worry about that. Everyone has their own struggle and your struggles are just as valid as anyone else's. Everyone has their own battles. At least youre self aware of other people's problems and realize you should be grateful for the life you had. Most people like that don't even realize how good they have it. Including myself. It could always be worse brother. Remember that.

Well I don't need to lie no more Nowadays all I do is shine Take a breath and ease my mind And she don't cry no more She tell me that I get her high 'Cause an angel's s'posed to fly, and... I ain't asking "Why?" no more Oh, no, I take it if it's mine I don't stay inside the lines It ain't 2009 no more Yeah, I know what's behind that door Yeah, okay you gotta jump in to swim Well, the light was dim in this life of sin Now every day I wake up and breathe I don't have it all but that's alright with me Take it nice and easy, took a flight to see me Send you back home with a light that's beaming The whole team about to figure it out We ice cold, that's what winter's about And sometimes, sometimes I wish I took a simpler route Instead of having demons that's as big as my house, mhmm Have a ball with a dribble and bounce 'Cause the party ain't over 'til they're kicking me out, yeah Isn't it funny? We can make a lot of money Buy a lot of things just to feel a lot of ugly I was yea high and muddy Looking for what was looking for me But I don't need to lie no more Nowadays all I do is shine Take a breath and ease my mind And she don't cry no more She tell me that I get her high 'Cause an angel's s'posed to fly, and... I ain't asking "Why?" no more Oh, no, I take it if it's mine I don't stay inside the lines It ain't 2009 no more Yeah, I know what's behind that door Yeah they ask me what I'm smiling for Well, because I've never been this high before It's like I never felt alive before Mhmm, I'd rather have me peace of mind and water See me and you, we ain't that different I struck the fuck out and then I came back swinging Take my time to finish, mind my business A life ain't a life 'til you live it I was digging me a hole big enough to bury my soul Weight of the world, I gotta carry my own My own, with these songs I can carry you home I'm right here when you're scared and alone And I ain't ever in a hurry You don't never gotta worry Even when it's 7:30 and the time is runnin' low When your heart get cold See what's behind all them unturned stones And I'm a pro when it comes to my job But really I'm just tryna start believin' in God Now when it gets hard I don't panic, I don't sound the alarm Because I don't need to lie no more Nowadays all I do is shine Take a breath and ease my mind And she don't cry no more She tell me that I get her high 'Cause an angel's s'posed to fly, and... I ain't asking "Why?" no more Oh, no, I take it if it's mine I don't stay inside the lines It ain't 2009 no more Yeah, I know what's behind that door I don't need to lie no more Nowadays all I do is shine Take a breath and ease my mind And she don't cry no more She tell me that I get her high 'Cause an angel's s'posed to fly, and... I have never once felt anything towards any celebrity passing away, but with Mac it’s so different. It has been a week and I have not stopped thinking about it and listening to his entire catalog every day. Mac was so much more than a rapper, he was a true artist. He was an absolute genius. He had such an impact on so many people. It was too soon. I don’t know why I feel so sad about someone I’ve never met dying. Its really confusing to be honest. And it’s interesting to see that other people in this comment section are feeling exactly what I feel. Also, it’s sucks that I never got to see him live and I truly regret that. At the same time, I hope Malcom is finally at peace. This man had some demons so far beyond what I could understand. Going back and listening to tapes like Faces or Delusional Thomas, it really makes you wonder how he did not overdose back then. I hope Mac is finally resting peacefully. Rest In Peace Malcom McCormick, in the truest sense of that phrase... EDIT: I just checked back on this on October 2nd, almost a month after Mac’s passing, and realized that it has drawn quite a response. Thank you all. Mac truly was the best and I still have not gone a day since September 7th without listening to at least one of his songs. Hopefully you all have reflected on his artwork as I have. This man was impactful, a musical prodigy, and the best fucking lyricist I have heard to this date. His memory will live on through his masterful catalog. Once again, Rest In Peace to the homie Mac Miller, a true legend...

Ariana's new song 'Ghostin' is about Mac and samples this song. She said the song is about feeling bad for the person you're with because you're in love with someone else. So basically she's talking about how when Mac died she realised she was still in love with him, even though she was still with Pete at the time. In the lyrics she talks about him visiting her in his dreams. She talks about feeling bad for Pete because she keeps crying over Mac. And says she feels she should be 'ghosting him [Mac] instead'...e.g. he's a ghost because he passed away. I'm not crying you're crying

My brother died to cancer as this song came out and it brings be back. I remember sitting outside smoking a cigarette by a tree twisting a strand of grass up because he told us to get lunch so he could go to the other side.. RIP Timmy. Til we meet again and smoke that heaven blunt

This was is homecoming song. I listend to this a few weeks ago and thought damn Mac is going back to his old self when he was happy he's finally knowing peace again. It's sad now because you listen to the words and you realize it was him making peace with everything he was and everything that transpired in his 26 years. If you've ever talked to someone days before they pass or even weeks this is how they talk no matter what deamons they face. It even has a gospel feel to it with the keys. This was his homecoming song really the last sound track to his life a forgiveness song. It's funny how you miss somebody you don't know. This shit did a number on me. Edit: Come September it will be a year since he left and I'm still crying from the same songs. I love ya'll, you guys are my most dope family, 07/26/19

Dustin Anderson Because we see their soul. It’s hard to think about never seeing someone’s soul again and we can’t avoid it with an artist’s death.
