It’s a song that relates to the feeling of freedom of post break up and realizing that you, yourself is the only one who can make you happy after climbing out of a harsh relationship.. If you like the band aspects of Mac Miller’s new album, listen to “What’s the Use” or “2009” but also the more rap genre tracks like “Self Care” or “Hurt Feelings”.. also he has an expansive sound that has evolved for the past ten years including very dark projects “Watching Movies with the Sound Off” or “Faces”(one of the best mixtapes of the decade relating drug addiction) as well as more alive projects like: “Good AM” and “K.I.D.S.”(mixtape that got him famous) and also a Love/RnB album “The Divine Feminine” which was a master piece of grown folk music in its own right with some of the best production and instrumentation for awhile.. give a listen to Mac on your own time

self care by mac miller has potential to be rap single of the year, from the album as well but its incredible. and he has done ladders live with a live band on stephen colberts show if you wanna check that out
@anthonybogdan50996 жыл бұрын
Jon said something about listening to the song as a whole and that's how the entire album is. The songs alone are indeed great songs and well structured like Simon said but the album completes the thought. Ladders is only a part but the entire album completes the thought that each song inputs. I'd say react the entire album and keep killing it guys!!

Ladders is one of the more radio friendly songs off Swimming, Mac's latest album. If you want something deeper or more lyrical from Mac, especially from this album, check out "Self Care" or "Small Worlds." With the way you guys reacted to this production, I honestly can't wait to see you guys react to TPAB-Era Kendrick. Butterfly dives into this Jazzier, more funk driven style of music way more organically than Swimming does & it definitely hits a level of lyrical depth unparalleled. It's one of my favorite albums of all time. I don't like throwing that label around loosely but TPAB definitely earns it. Check out "Institutionalized." It's atmospheric yet jazzy at the same time. It's one of my favorites of the album. Plus, you get a pretty nice Snoop feature with it as well. "u" is pretty high up there as well for me (And from your comment section, it seems like I'm not alone with that opinion) but it's definitely a pretty heavy track. Listening to "i" (The lead single from TPAB), along with "u", might be a pretty good idea seeing as though, thematically, they go almost hand & hand.

I feel like that moment at 6:00 is exactly how you're supposed to feel with a lot of Mac's work. He has serious work, and has some songs with serious messages, some albums more than the others, but generally his music just makes you feel good. His early work would seem more like the current Lil Pumps and what not of today, very silly and joking and "ride this until it dies" kind of vibe, and then he moved onto deeper thoughts, kind of after Blue Slide Park. Which has some less poppy songs, but being from Pittsburgh, just kind of feels like an ode to the city. I feel like people really started praising his writing and production work during the Watching Movies with the Sound Off era. And unfortunately his last name isn't actually Miller. Sorry. haha
