His music has really transitioned into something entirely different. His earlier work was, in short, nothing but a happy go-lucky kid rapping about his life and his ambitions. It presented a carefree vibe that modeled the fresh eager feeling of that newly graduated high school kid just trying to enjoy what modicum of childhood they held onto whilst being thrust into the adult world. His work quickly transitioned into darker, deeper, more complex subject matter that starkly contrasts projects such as K.I.D.S. and B.D.E. Mac didn't change per se; he grew up. He matured as did his art. But I'd be a liar if I said I didn't miss that happy young kid, just hungry for success, despite how powerful some of his music has become. But I digress. I'm too damn fried to be writing all this smfh.

I was 14 when this album came out. At the time, this and Faces were my favorite albums Mac had done. It wasn’t until he passed away that I went back and really listened to both fully through. They’re still my favorites from him but I feel guilty about that. He was in such a dark, drug filled head space when he made them. I feel like I shouldn’t love these albums so much, knowing that he wasn’t happy or healthy and that that lifestyle that produced such amazing music would also lead to him leaving way too soon. I’d give up all of these albums if it meant Mac never got consumed by addiction, he meant way more to this world than just to be a rapper. RIP Mac, you’re not forgotten my man

I discovered Mac Miller after his passing sadly. His conscious songs about his mental state are brilliant. Half of his posthumous album, Circles, is on my main Spotify playlist. I feel like in his darkest moments, he created the most sincere and relatable music. I've struggled with severe depression for 11 years now and he was one of the only rappers that I feel could truly encapsulate the feelings of hopelessness and desperation. He fought his demons and lost, but in the process, he created music to guide and comfort those struggling with similar issues. That's On Me has brought me to tears several times. His sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Dillion Fuck yeah. Couldn't agree more, brotha. I didn't care too much for his older stuff but still had mad respect and bumped it once in a while, but this is some New Era Mac, and he's definitely showin the Real now, he realized you can't get stuck in one spot cuz that's not like life, its up n down and everchanging. He started to show that hardcore side of himself and lost fake fans, but gained real ones while inspiring people to understand that it's not all Sunshine and Rainbows, and that there are important souls out there who can relate, like me especially. Every word in this song I understand on another level. Controversial shit, but Real af. He's talking ultimately about how celebrities are grouped into a one big group ''star room'' controlled by the industries, and he's contemplating whether he should join the group and make more money, or not join and dictate his own life. the dad in ''I still don't got the heart to pick my phone up when my dad calls'', is the major labels, because they're the man of the house, and the star room is essentially the ''kids room'' since they're being controlled by the father, bribed, and ignorant of their environment. Anyways, that's my interpretation, and I thought I'd share it. :D
@kingkay149 жыл бұрын
so if that's the case... That means he accepts the satanic offer and joins the "illuminati" since he is in the star room several times in the video
@n0n4m3l0l9 жыл бұрын
the star room is the place mac used to kick it wit his boys and get fucked up skippin reality before he made it into the game, look it up he talks about it in an interview. This is his favorite song btw
@HarryPotterIsCool19 жыл бұрын
+kingkay14 well, yeah that's the point. No ones becomes famous in terms of mainstream without joining the music industry, which reflects the basic concept of the illuminati. The all controlling ones... The ones with money to dictate structure of society. Bankers, corporations, oil companies, etc. I think Mac is mad reflective with his music, and especially his latest album. Listen to Brand Name and it's sort of like an unofficial sequel to this song.

I think this video and song has a deeper meaning than most people realize even today. The beginning and end in the "star room" I believe is his true self, while the middle is a fake version of himself. His true self is in hiding or lost, and his fake self is using drugs, money and women to distract himself from the fact that he's lost his way. There's a lot more to this but I think that's the general idea
