Unusual long single-angle in this fight scene, 15 seconds from one angle... I like it, you can really follow the moves and it's excellent choreagraphy. These guys really trained hard to do this. In most movies/series, fight scenes are cut up way too much. You can't follow the moves. Often it's also filmed way too close and dark. Here you can see the whole thing.
@sembilanindera2231 Жыл бұрын
Right, Jackie Chan had criticized the fights in hollywood / western movie as they cut the scenes too much and there's no "continuity" in fight scenes. Here I loved the contrasting style of Duncan's katana style and Haresh's near eastern (poland, turkey, balkan) style. If you saw the full episode you would see Duncan paid respect to the fallen Haresh after the Quickening. One of Duncan's most skillful opponent.

Yes but he might have had to start being more like Methos to handle the crop of immortals coming up from World War ii, you would think that the population of immortals always swells during wartime, of course they're alive at the time anyway but just that that's the time they first get killed, during combat
@nicholasg98042 жыл бұрын
Yeah but if you watch the episode, it's actually about a gay relationship between two immortals. After Richie killed the lover of this man he didn't want to live, actually question whether he was fighting at his full capacity. I think it's pretty clear that he doesn't really want to live anymore, this episode never clearly states that it was a gay relationship but I think it's pretty clear. Especially in the '90s, they have a earring on the African immortal that I think purposely is meant to display very clearly what this is about. I also think it's a serious undertone in this episode. Unfortunately due to public television they couldn't outright say this was a gay relationship but I think it's pretty clear. I mean it's a real sad episode because it's about a cycle of suffering, there are no good guys in this episode. Basically this guy took Duncan's teacher and then Richie took this guy's lover so it's like just a cycle of horrible suffering. Nobody is a good guy it's a really sad episode
@tinafoster86652 жыл бұрын
@@nicholasg9804 I did see the episode, McLeod's teacher at that time was this pompous European Court type guy, was his name St cloud? Anyhoo he was reputed to be technically among the best, n Harish Clay did hear of him I think, so was respectful n WARY; St Cloud on the other hand looked like he was concentrating but Harish Clay got his sword with one of those tricky circle moves or whatever you call it. Clay's Squire didn't look too surprised but Duncan McLeod was utterly shocked, and he was even more shocked when St Cloud actually got on his knees and begged for his life. Harish clay of course was incredulous, saying you're actually begging for your life? Anyway Harish Clay took St cloud's head and since McLeod was within this little square that was a grave and therefore holy ground, was inaccessible -- and then clay and his Squire proceeded to shame him. Being with an Arabian badass like Harish Clay, it's no wonder his Squire didn't get very good, because Richie took him relatively quickly. And when Harish clay comes to meet his friend, the bartender tells him, long hair n major attitude? Harish clay smiles yes that's the one, n when the bartender says he ran into a guy with more attitude, at that point I figured that he was Clay's lover as well because he got just a sick look on his face. Anyway he finds Richie in short order and not only hacks through the door, but breaks Richie's sword like a toothpick. And when he met McLeod on holy ground, now I remember he did say have you ever had a friend for more than 800 years, who you shared everything with, and McLeod says hey, I feel for you man, but if you go after my friend, I'm coming after you. Harish Clay, you're right I think Harish Clay saw this as his way out of his pain. But when he showed up to fight McLeod in that Mercedes or whatever it was, impeccable suit, he was all business though, and I was hoping right up till the end that they'd just say okay forget all this you know, I mean they were two cool guys you know? Didn't Harish Clay actually have to say, strike , to Duncan? Or did he tell his partner that he'd be there to join him shortly? He said something, something heavy, it is really unfortunate in some of the episodes where McLeod runs into a cool guy that for some reason he has to kill. But even McLeod has his weaknesses, Methos had to kill that one lady because McCloud was prevented by chivalry from acting decisively

@@borbafatt dude just that he's buisness wasn't officialy called " head hunter " is not a serious criteria to his power. he is much much much older than all those you mentioned, and he probably was in more fight's. macleod is the opposite of a head hunter and he had a lot of fight's for 400 year period....I don't think any of this guy's, including kalas, can take kronos. in their first fight kronos almost finished macleod and that's the macleod with the katana and samurai knowledge....methos is extremely afraid of kronos, silas is also afraid of him...
@borbafatt3 жыл бұрын
@@yayocowboy I definitely have no problem with Kronos being the strongest and to me he definitely is I just think it needs to be more reflected in his backstory. Also as much as I hate to say it you can’t really put stock into the first duel with Duncan almost losing because that happens quite a bit and often time doesn’t make sense beyond building drama. In his first duel with Kalas, Duncan was losing and technically lost the fight, then the next episode kalas kills Fitz and presumably gets much stronger since Fitz was pretty old in his own right, then kalas fights Duncan again in the following episode after that and Duncan has the advantage and seems to be winning the whole time even though he hasn’t gotten any stronger. Xavier probably wouldn't fight Haresh honorably. Haresh Clay was a better swordsman than Hamza el Kahir. Most likely Haresh would be the one head hunting and not Xavier. After all, Graham Ashe who was born in 1150 B.C. feared Haresh, who was way younger. Xavier who would feel extreme dread with Haresh making an effort to claim his head. He would know Haresh's reputation and would cause Xavier to fight dirty. Xavier would probably have a few mortals interfere and would take Haresh's head.
