Nice coverage of the sawdust, the good story is it will eventually end up back in nature through the manure spreader, awesome circle of life

Thanks Jan. Yep all ends up back on the fields eventually, I suppose we've spread a fair bit of it over the ground through the years lol.

Super Dave should keep his eyes open for a skid steer laying around Cape Breton, sure would be more maneuverable than the David Brown.
@macfarms4 жыл бұрын
Yeah we passed on a couple lately actually, need to find one cheap lol the trouble with a skid steer is you don’t have near the reach, so you’d have to get creative with that too.

It's that time of year, you had a good day for it. When winter comes it sure is nice to bed everyone down on a cold night and watch everyone lay down Close the barn up and let the wind blow. Thanks for the video

For sure, it's a good time of year to get it, set for the winter now. Thanks for watching!

Cows don’t seem to mind the tractor Scott.
@macfarms4 жыл бұрын
No Noel they aren't too bothered by it. We spend so much time around them there isn't too much that will bother them really.

Looks like a pain, but at least you only have to do it once a year!
@macfarms4 жыл бұрын
It is, at least there isn't too much shovelling by hand, can get most of it with the tractor. Takes some time to do, but then it's done. Thanks for watching man!

That's great... Iam from India and Iam looking to have sawdust as the bedding underneath the cow..But I have certain queries 1- We generally place rubber mats under the cows,so what should be thickness of the sawdust flooring and how do you manage cow dung and urine over the bedding.
@macfarms3 жыл бұрын
We use rubber mats as well, the sawdust just keeps things try, we scrape off the mats and replace sawdust as needed, doesn’t take much.

Some used to put bells on their cows.. for finding them and to spook predators away.. You put bells on your Tractor. Im not sure why🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 It works!! Most of this looks familiar 👍 I just don't recall seeing the truck deliver it. Comfy cows are happy cows. Happy cows are better milkers👍 What are you looking at.. lol.. she's probably thinking that's all you do is make videos 🤣 Everyones got at least one trouble maker... Thanks for the video

Is it Irving Sawdust? Lol. When I first moved to Ontario 25 years ago, my first job was at a sawdust bagging plant. Mostly for horse farms up here. We were unloading 53’ trailers with shovels- me and another no mind! After about three weeks of that and a load of hardwood sawdust where you couldn’t see your hand in front of your face and they gave you a paper mask, I said to hell with that and got me a job with the municipality and haven’t looked back!

lol, not irving sawdust I don't think, they could own this mill too for all I know they seem to be everywhere. We used to get some hardwood sawdust from a cabinet shop years ago, shovelled out of a 53ft trailer, it was pretty miserable. Wasn't even good sawdust lol.

The American dairymen will say that you need a skid loader and the Brits will say you need a telehandler. A skid loader doesn’t have quite enough reach for your barn and the telehandler is too long! If only the 885 had a shuttle shift but it gets the job done!

Yes it's kind of an in between situation. I see JCB makes a Teleskid now, suppose if I won the lottomax tomorrow I might buy one haha.
