Here in U.S. Mac 12 comes at 43% and I tell you it’s still not as good as GlenDronach 12 and it’s twice as expensive. If you can find those old bottles they are amazing at 43% but really hard to find and quite expensive. Recently found 2015 bottle for 100$ and it’s amazing but for the same money I can get better bottles. Sadly Mac quality has dropped noticeably and many enthusiasts stopped buying them.

Unfortunately you're right. Old school Macallans were a thing of beauty. They lost their way trying to become mainstream.

I have both of these.. My Glendronachs are from early 2016...Billy Walker was still there. I bought a liter today for $57usd. I bought The Macallan 12 sherry cask just to give it a try...I really like it. $73.50usd...700ml... I give the victory to Glendronach 12.. But, I like the Mac a lot more than you do.

In Australia, Macallan 12yo Single Cask costs 30% more than Glendonach 12yo, and definitely not 30% better. Besides, Glendonach is unchill filleted (maybe) and natural coloured with extra 3% ABV. Which one is the pick? No brained.

Nice video! Can you see if Macallan states that it’s chill filtered on the bottle’s label? At 40% I doubt very much that it’s non chill filtered but there have been claims that they don’t. I’m skeptical.

Doesn't say anything on the bottle. I suspect they chill filter some (travel retails mostly). I dont know specifically about this one.

Good comparison review, liked it. It might have been a close run but the macallan is probably more than double the price of the Glendronach. Ahh and that word smoooth, yes I know where your coming from. Cheers.

You said it right there, that Macallan is WEAK. 43% US version would fare much better but prices outside of US are ridiculous

I just matched these up last night but the Macallan is now 43% so it was an even match up. I felt the nose on Macallan 12 was far superior. However, the taste of GlenDronach 12 absolutely blew away the Macallan. Not because GD was just so amazing but because Macallan was so lacking. I didn’t pick up much of anything interesting in the Macallan even with a few drops of water. The GD had more flavors burst out with a few drops. IMO, skip The Macallan and buy two GlenDronach bottles.
