I recall telling I think Jim and Simon about how Bruno Guimaraes isn't really an athletic player and he's watched him a few times during the season and actually thinks he's kind of lazy and doesn't get around much... fast forward to the end of the season and Bruno is ranked as covering the most distance of any player in the Premier League and one of the top in the top leagues in Europe

Liverpool got to 3 CL finals, winning 1 and won the PL with Jordan Henderson as their captain. 11 players on the pitch and technical ability isn't the only thing that matters. Madness to let him go, and solely being done as he's pure profit for FFP having come through the academy. The owners "damaging the club" isn't nearly about selling Conor than it is about ripping the standards of the club into pieces. It's a lot deeper than spending a ridiculous amount of money or selling off Gallagher and Mount. Crook can't articulate the problems but I think he knows along with others the owners have hurt the club. They've spent a large amount of that money on non squad players while leaving the squad's key positions unfilled. A number of the players they did buy for their first team are of dubious quality and the jury is still out on a number of them. A number of other decisions made by the ownership have been ridiculous, comical and certainly foolish. Sacking an entire medical team along with appointing themselves as sporting directors was comical and there is so much more that has in fact damaged the football club - perhaps the worst of all has been their silly model of only buying players under 25 years of age based on AI scout although when you look at their selections, most of the players they buy are under 23 years of age. This policy of U23, along with getting rid of all experience, age and wisdom on the pitch has been the most destructive of all and is the reason why they were so bad for so long until fairly recently. The new ownership has a voracious appetite for money and the money they have spent hasn't been spent with the primary interest on the pitch performances, it's been spent as an investment to make more money down the line with their investments being sold off. Boehly himself has said they see it as an investment. The primary interests of the ownership group of Clearlake Capital is to make money, results are secondary. It is hard to see the team live up to previous standards of winning Leagues and rivaling the best clubs in Europe with a primary focus on off the pitch business rather than the results on them. All that said, I do agree with Darragh in waiting and seeing how this season unfolds. It's year 3, this is the 5th summer window with an incredible amount of money invested, their 3rd coach and the excuses of time has been exhausted. Personally I doubt they'll make top 4 with the current squad however they have the bulk of a month left in the window to do some clever business.
