The last time I was in Grandtully I was whitewater rafting down the River Tay over the Grandtully rapids! I had no idea that there were trails there too...

I was watching some guys doing kayak slalom as we went past, I used to white water kayak, but I haven’t ever done the Tay.

Hehe. 2.12 comment. Your laugh made me laugh too haha , those trails look great. Lots of feathering needed indeed between the trees. Not for the beginners, I’d have my face wrapped round about 10 of those trees if I had been trying to follow you all down. Lol , fun days. Will be good to see a return here in the summer when it’s drier (you know that 2 days during the week. Usually a Tuesday Wednesday when Scotland gets its summer. Hehe). Enjoyed watching as always mate

I’ve still got the Garmin, but I’m favouring using the Apple Watch as it has the heart rate sensor built in.

When I got my Orbea Laufey hardtail. I was surprised How much faster if was than my 27.5" full sus. I knew a hardtail would be quicker. However This hardtail is the first ever 29er I've ridden. I have even upgraded the brakes to the same as on my full sus. Just different size rotors. The full sus has 203 front and 180 rear. The Orbea has 180 front and rear. Mainly due to having trail tyre on the Orbea and not wanting to over whelm them. That's from someone who has a hybrid with 32mm tyres and Hope Mono Mini brakes with a 183mm front rotor and a 160mm rear. Great trails. I think someone should have gotten that tree an alarm clock to wake it up.
@McTrailRider2 жыл бұрын
The bigger wheel certainly make a big difference to your trail speed 👍 I think I will be up sizing my rear disc soon as the 180mm gets quite overwhelmed and hot on the longer descents.

Great video Andrew as per! I wondered if I could as your advice mate I’m a 53 year old roadie / gravel cyclist that really wanted to give mountain biking a go jumped right in and bought a emtb my friend took me to glentress for the first time in the Xmas holidays and took me down spooky woods he is accomplished mountain biker! Anyway I came off on exiting a berm to early and face planted a tree and gave my neck and back a dull one and nose lol ! I went back on Sunday to try again on the blue but my confidence was in tatters i was riggid on the bike! Is this normal mate or do you think I should just accept I’ve missed the boat as regards to my age? Would appreciate your opinion Andrew cheers mate 👍
@McTrailRider2 жыл бұрын
I’d not fit me to tell you what you should or should not try or enjoy. However, if was in your position, I would try and session/section the trail. I.e repeatedly hit the same trail or section over and over. Start as slow as you want and build your speed and muscle memory as you see fit. Your confidence should build as you learn how to react to the trail and also get yourself very familiar with one particular trail or section.
