Superb stuff! I'm picking up one of those Skydio 2's at some point! I almost pulled the trigger on an Air 2s but was concerned about the restrictions on "legacy" drones in 2023. I've been on that summit, walking of course. Fantastic area for walking and Mountain biking 🚵♀️. Great views, better than ours and you are spot on that there's no substitute for seeing it yourself. Lovely video, the drone footage is outstanding, proper big mountain adventure! I’ve been lucky enough to have done the descent from the Bealach twice, once in a point to point from glen afric to morvich (in the long hot summer of 2018) and last year as a loop via the bothy. I would recommend it go on any mountain biker’s to do list, in fact watching this, I wouldn’t mind doing it again😀

Very nice. That drone is the nuts. I have questions. Have you thought about naming the drone? The last one was clearly the Father Dougal of drones. This one is an excellent little pilot so I’d name it Winkle after a famous Scottish WW2 (and beyond) pilot. Also, where does Piers keep his stuff? For a day like that I’ve got food, drinks, spares, tools. Good cornice advice too. 👍👍

I just call my drone the Terrier, as it’s tenacious and doesn’t let go. Piers carries less than he should in my opinion, but I’ve always got a backpack for these rides and have most things that we would need.

How much does a full suspension instead of hardtail help on something like that full descent from the top starting at 14.40? Would you be able to ride the same percentage of trail on either?

You could definitely ride it all on a hardtail, you would just go a bit slower and have more fatigue in your legs at the end.

@@McTrailRider Oh i was definitely fatigued... but i wouldnt call what i did "riding". Never rode a full sus before so wasnt sure how much difference it makes. Rode it on saturday as part of the loop, going up via Glean Licht. Hadnt really read much about the route other than a brief look on google. Knew it wasnt far mile wise, so did it as a "quick" stop on route elsewhere. Was not prepared for that at all.... 6.30 hours By the time i got to that final descent from the Bealach Sgairne, i was knackered. Im still pretty rookie at descending techy stuff, but even bits that i could normally ride, i was hitting every rock and pedal striking every narrow channel. Took the ebike as well...bit of a bugger hauling that up the climbs. Great videos though, been watching for ideas where to go.

Putoline HPX R 2.5 (yes suspension fluid) will sort out your brakes, I've been using for 6 months with zero issues and no pump up. Lower viscosity means the piston retract back faster.

That was a truly brilliant video. The drone has certainly taken your videos to the next level. What as the ride out of 10? Looked close to a 10 from what I saw.

For me, it’s probably an 8 or 9. Would be more if I could cycle up more of it and if the bottom would get drier at some point.

You push the bikes all the way up? Do you do any riding on the way up?

This one is 95% hike-a-bike, but there are other mountains that you can cycle a good bit up.

The first time I done this ride, it was just under 30 degrees and I ended up getting heat stroke 😬 The tent is a James Baroud Evasion, expensive but very good.
