Oh, I just realized... Hippolytus in a passage from his third century CE work, Philosphumena, references Hecate as "Mormo, Gorgo, thousand-faced moon." Odd that a Gorgon would be referenced. Especially with Lennox talking about the weather in rhyming iambic pentameter, as if the bad weather were something conjured by the Weird Sisters.

Ma'am I have, a, question?. How many times the porter open the door?
@NibblePop
@NibblePop 3 жыл бұрын
The porter in reality opens the door only once, to let in Macduff and Lennox. But before that he imagines opening it three more times. Once for the imaginary farmer, once for the equivocator and once for the english tailor.

Ma'am, I didn't understood the description of Duncan's dead body by macbeth. By using words like silver skin, golden blood, breach in nature, ruin's wasteful entrance, is he trying to compare king's dead body with something, is he trying to draw out some analogy ?
@NibblePop
@NibblePop 3 жыл бұрын
There is a definite analogy between the king and divinity. The words silver, golden are deliberately used to refer to Duncan's value and importance. He is more than a man, he is symbol of perfection. So any violation of his body becomes a violation of nature itself

At first, I just thought Beelzebub was a funny name to say, because there is so much humor to the Porter, but in the larger context of sleep, night, dreams, etc., in a world lit by fire, the Lord of flying insects is also the lord of things that swarm around you at night if you're awake when others are asleep. The dice-throwing contest between Wildeve and Venn from Return of the Native really illustrates the concept that when the sun goes down, the bugs come out. And of course the bugs also swarm around the dead, regardless of the time of day or night.

Mam, we can see Malcolm being scared of being suspicious instead of feeling sad on account of the murder of his father....I think he did not have any feeling towards Duncan, if had, he could not hide his emotion in such way. He might have been scared but my question is it does not mean that he would not show his emotion...of course expressing grief for his father's death is not for showing everybody...it's a feeling which can not be hide at any cost if he really had love towards his father. Isn't it ?
@NibblePop
@NibblePop 3 жыл бұрын
“Feeling sad” is not a typical kingly emotion, “being angry” is. Malcolm is too mature to waste his anger hastily. He waited for a timely revenge and protected himself from the clear and present danger.
@smitarahaman8430
@smitarahaman8430 3 жыл бұрын
@@NibblePop oho...means Malcolm has been presented here as a cunning person who took his emotion of loosing his father as well as his anger of taking revenge under control...yet once you have said in this scene that he did not want to show any false tears or grief rather you said he was scared...why have you used the word 'false' ? Is it because of the pretence of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth ?....if yes, I have another question here that at the time of departure to England, nobody knew about the real murderer not even Malcolm too...so why he hide his emotion while others were weeping addressing them false tears ?
@NibblePop
@NibblePop 3 жыл бұрын
@@smitarahaman8430 If being cunning means surviving instinct then yes. Malcolm was not certain who the murderer is but he was certain that the murderer was very much present inside the castle at its moment of discovery. He knew who was next in line for being king and he did not want to risk his and his brother's life. Would anyone really wish to waste time giving that murderer chance of another covert attack?

It might help to read the first dialog between Hamlet and Claudius, where Claudius talks about how to important it is to be manly in the face of the death of one's father. If Malcom was given similar advice from Duncan, he might know that not only would his father go the way of all fathers, but that as a king he would have many enemies and that a violent death was just as likely, if not more so, than a peaceful one.

I don't think @Nibblepop has this one yet, but in the world of Shakespeare, Henry V's St. Crispin's Day Speech is the Gettysburg Address. They're thematically identical. Take the two speeches, break them apart, and you can see that while the structures may be different, they're talking about the same thing at their cores.

@@K_F_fox Though there is no video on the Gettysburg Address made by Monami mam but she is such a figure,has ocean like depth of knowledge that I believe no topic is unknown to her. Perhaps she was tremendously busy in something and that's why she couldn't touch the question immediately but I can't deny her contributions in my life. Ma'am, when lady Macbeth faints, Banquo says : Look to the lady:- Here, not full stop but another symbol is used at end of speech. Here, does the punctuation mark (:- ) bears any special significance...
@NibblePop
@NibblePop 3 жыл бұрын
@@abhishekgupta7769 yes, it means that Banquo does not end his sentence, he leaves it midway and tries to help lady Macbeth up probably. Since the sentence is left hanging midway, there is no full stop. It shows a continuity of action.
