Just an update about my Mac Book Pro 15in with Touch Bar. It lasted 11 months, logic board failed and because the guts of the computer is all soldered together it's a write off. Apple please do back to the old design (removable repairable components) and stop making CHEAP CRAP that you sell for top dollar. Maybe I gotta dump buying Apple stuff.

Apple is in the same situation the Call of Duty franchise is in. They keep trying to make it so futuristic and different that its more harmful than helpful. I just want a remaster of an old mac. I think the 2010 model, which is what i have, has the near perfect ports. Disc drive on the left and a charging, ethernet, something i don't know, two usb and one headphone jack. Just add HDMI and SD reader and make the metal, imrpove the specs, and its great.

See where you're coming from. But in my personal criteria it falls short. Screen resolution is worse (colors probably as well) and less Battery life. Plus while you can develop great software on Linux, there aren't really any professional software for like editing (except DaVinci resolve) or graphic design and the such. And working on Windows.... well work should be somewhere fun at least and on Windows it just isn't (for me at least, this is a personal opionion). That's why I'm stuck with MacBooks. Though I just love my 2014 MB Pro, best Computer I ever used. In 3 years the USB C situation won't be as bad, the prices hopefully will have gone down (buying second hand anyway). No SD card reader and no magsafe still sucks. But plugging ONE cable from your MacBook into your monitor and having an external screen, power supply and a docking station sure is awesome.

Your observations are right on. The loss of magsafe, SD card slot and USB ports is too much too soon. Particularly the loss of SD card slot. I don't want to have to deal with dongles. After owning this computer for about a month, I can say that the charging system is not annoying and is in fact more useful than magsafe. USB type C is super fast and the new mac has an amazing battery life that lasts me about a day of hard use so worrying about the cable causing my mac to fall isn't a real worry because I rarely have to charge it. Having 4 possible charging ports makes it super easy to charge it without having to tug awkwardly on the cable.

I love Apple, I loved my first iPhone 4s and I love my 2012 macBook Pro. Now I'm stuck with an iPhone 6s and still the same MacBook because Apple is fucking up their shit!
