Lenovo's wave of mega silent firings in early 2023 were absolutely despicable. They laid of thousands of really great people after posting record profits and bragging about moving up the Forbes list each quarter in their "All Hands" NA org sales meetings to those people that moved the needle for them. They ruined thousands of people's lives who relocated and rented or purchased new homes just to join the US sales organization during the digital boom of the pandemic and increase in business for them, forcing them to lose their homes and become homeless. Their warranty process is atrocious and considered terrible by anyone who has had to deal with service claims on top of this.

@@WhomAmI Not really sure where you’re getting your information from, but it’s not reliable. I know of creators who use Linux exclusively and I have personally done so for the past year with no issues. Furthermore, this video is directed to computer users in general, not just creators.
@WhomAmI5 ай бұрын
@@Lantern__Lighter My experience. I gave it a go a couple years back and have come to that conclusion. Your original comment asked if creators have tried and that's my response. Adobe suite does not exist on the Linux platform. Resolve has several critical features unsupported. Autodesk 3D apps are notoriously difficult to get running due to dependencies compiled against various versions. I'd love to know what kind of setups your creator sources are running, particularly what they do and which software, in case I overlooked something. But for professional work Linux doesn't cut it.
@Lantern__Lighter5 ай бұрын
@@WhomAmI Linux is definitely more usable than it was a few years ago, so that experience is likely dated (could also be due to lack of experience with Linux in general). My original comment referenced creators simply because I hadn’t seen any videos showcasing Linux on this hardware yet. Adobe and Autodesk products are a bit of a disappointment for the Linux community, but there are FOSS alternatives such as Kdenlive for video editing, Gimp and Inkscape for image manipulation, and FreeCAD for 3D design. You seem to be overlooking a large portion of the population that doesn’t need to use these tools due to working in other industries. While Linux is not the answer for people forced to use specific applications for work, it definitely can fill the needs of the majority of the population.
@WhomAmI5 ай бұрын
@@Lantern__Lighter I use Linux daily but for various things unrelated to design. Though I haven't tried in 2 years for creative work, that does not mean my knowledge is outdated. Nothing major has changed for the industry I am in hence why I don't use it. By the same logic you are also overlooking what "creators" falls under. I'd argue creators especially in this day and age is synonoymous with art and design, be it stills, motion or games. Maaaybe webdev. All the tools you have described I have used except FreeCAD (which is niche, 3D design for architecture and engineering). Barring GIMP (to a degree) and Inkscape, the others don't hold up for profressional work, and I am willing to die on that hill.

I noticed a significant improvement in x64 emulation when I switched my Windows Dev Kit 2023 with SQ3 / Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 processor from Windows 11 23H2 to 24H2 release preview. I also installed Recall following a manual process outlined in a Tom's Hardware article. It runs on any Snapdragon windows SoC that has a generation 2 NPU. The NPU in the SQ3 is gen 2 and 15 TOPS rated. It runs well with no noticeable impact on performance other than consuming up to 50GB of SSD storage.
