Macedonian Roadtrip | Galicica National Park, Lake Prespa + Krusevo

If you're looking for an adventure in the Balkans, make sure you check out Macedonia! It is well worth renting a car so you have more freedom to explore more off the beaten track places where public transit might not go. In today's video I take you guys on a tour of the beautiful Galicica National Park which borders both Lake Ohrid and Lake Prespa. Since I've already done videos about Lake Ohrid, I decided to go to the shores of Lake Prespa because it too is beautiful and has an interesting history. Next up was Krusevo which is a town high up in the mountains where you can really get a sense of traditional Macedonian culture and learn about how they became an independent nation. Thanks for the doggie shots Alina. Reminds me of the time I was 4-wheeling solo on a deserted Costa Rican beach. Two canine buddies kept me company all day long. I drove many kms with them running along side. Stopping to play fetch and avoiding freshwater alligators at the mouth of a river. Was truly one of the best days of my life! Epic drone shots, lovely video again :) I'm sure this region and the place are even more spectacular in the Summer or Spring when everything is green and life is reborn. Hope you are feeling much better, stay safe. Mastika however is not similar to Rakia one bit (there is a anis rakia but that is completely different than Mastika). Fun fact if you keep Mastika in the freezer for certain amount of time it forms floating crystals it's beautiful. Only hard core alcoholics consume Mastica, it taste awful in my opinion.

I have noticed that in your drone footage over the town, there weren't any houses/apartments that were single story. In fact, after looking again, I see very few two story ones as well. The footage was awesome like normal, keep up the great work!

That's right near my homelands... bravo. Back in the olden days the fisherman would catch fish in lake prespa and climb the mountains to sell to the villages in the Bitola - Florina region.

I went on a Macedonian roadtrip yesterday. I started in Thessaloniki (Macedonian capital), I visited Philip's grave in Vergina where Alexander was born, I read all their inscriptions in Greek. It was wonderful. Funny thing, it was all in Greece.

The multi-ethnic town of Krushevë / Crushuva / Κρούσοβo / Crușova / Kuruşova has a rich cultural history, as reflected by its diverse food menu offerings! Thanks for sharing all this with us, Alina! COVID-19 numbers are trending upward everywhere. North Macedonia and Lithuania are now essentially tied at 63K cases. Be happy, healthy and safe Alina!!! Be careful, always!

Thank you, Gediminas! Yes, times are a bit crazy but I think that while we all have to try our best to be safe, it's also important to realize that life goes on. Humans have surpassed trials far worse than covid19. It's the elderly and immunocompromised that should be most looked after. Everyone else's chances of survival are very good.

Really lovely to see this small part of Macedonia and exploring lake side villages is one of my favorite things to do. I lived while working in Konstanz Germany which is bordered by Austria and Switzerland which also was amazing. There is no country called Macedonia. North Macedonia is its name. Macedonia is a historic term while North Macedonia is a geographic name referring to different historic era. It's like saying that Nova Scotia is most Scottish than Scotland.
