I think as long as the “ new users/newcomers” our respectful and thankful things will be OK. One thing I would add is that non-Tesla cars that are charging park next to other non-Tesla cars so that only one space is lost and not two spaces every single time in non-tesla user is charging. If you could help spread that word, I’m sure there would be less friction. I like how respectful and thoughtful you two are. Tesla's adding 1 Supercharger per hour, according to their website. Currently, there are 27,000 SCs, and one/hr means about 8500/yr... In 6 yrs that will add 51,000 SCs to the 27,000 existing SCs for a total of 78,000 SCs. This fast charging business for Tesla will be huge. All Ford, GM, Volvo, Polestar, Rivian and others are welcome by Tesla owners to charge at Tesla stations. Thanks for the great video. As a Mach E owner who recently requested his adapter, I am excited about what it means. I live in Michigan and have driven my Mach E to Philly, Norfolk, DC, Baltimore, and southern Mississippi. Mississippi created some serious range anxiety, given the only L3 charging between Memphis and Natchez (Southern Miss) is an off-brand station in a McDonald's in Winona. But there were at least two Tesla stations on the way. So, my next trip to Mississippi will hopefully be supported by Tesla charging, which will make the road trip a bit more relaxing. Again, thanks for the video! It's great to know the challenges and what to expect. Your experiences add to our knowledge base. And your reminder to be courteous is excellent. I just took a road trip through Quartzite in January and tried the 84-stall superchargers twice. I heard the preaching too! And it was almost empty, with 3 Teslas charging. A Tesla owner and totally Open to all EV’s. It’s not a political or any other kind of statement. An EV is four wheels and a steering wheel. That’s it. I’m totally open to all EV’s having access to all chargers. My ONLY issue is that it the Bay Area ca…there’s already clogged charging times and now this will just add even more to it. Tesla is not building superchargers to the amount of vehicles they’re selling. A unique issue about the Bay Area, and other similar places, is that many owners don’t have access to a personal charging outlet in a garage, etc because many people live in apartments or so while having to park out on the street. They rely on superchargers for charging. I’m hoping Tesla will increase superchargers being built to handle the influx of new non-Tesla vehicles joining the network. Love The Mach E that you have and always wanted one! Very nice in person and eye catching for sure!

I wish you two would do an investigative report exposing why Tesla/Ford (and Lectron) are taking months to fulfill orders for NACS-to-CCS1 adapters. Neither disclose the actual numbers that are being shipped and WHY orders accepted in February do not expect to ship until September. Lectron has been the worse by accepting new orders for the Vortex adapter all the while stating the adapter will be shipped “soon”. Ford stands on a higher moral ground because A) the adapter is provided to Ford owners for free and B) Ford openly told customers they will be waiting 7 months - but despite that, the long manufacturing lead time is unacceptable, imo. I cannot but believe there is something more at play than a slow manufacturer.

I just charged at that Cathedral City CA charger today in my Lightning. (The one with the Sonic drive thru) Plug-N-Charge was a success as well. I was actually there and tried it the same day you were probably there (Saturday 3/2/24) and couldn't get it to charge. Turns out I failed to activate the lock on the Tesla side of the adapter correctly. I am using the A2Z adapter. Hopefully someone reads this and doesn't make the same mistake as me. It was clearly mentioned in the notes however the adapter has been on my desk for a few weeks and the instructions went missing. I wish I would have ran into you guys there, we probably would have figured it out together! Great channel! Subscribed!

Our A2Z adapter arrives today and we're planning on doing a video on it. Has it being working OK for other than the tricky lock?

@@MachE_VLOG Today was the only time I tried it after learning it needs to be locked on the bottom. The documentation makes it pretty clear so you shouldn't have a problem at all. I just wish I had held on to the instructions while I waited for Tesla to open everything up. It's easy to miss that lock on the bottom and it won't charge if its unlocked. I pre ordered it back in late November. So far the Sonic charger is the only one opened up here in the Coachella Valley (I live in Indio). I also parked in the same handicapped stall so that I wouldn't take up two spots. I'm supposed to head to Vegas this weekend. I am tempted to take the Lightning instead of our X just to try out more Superchargers!

To avoid taking up two spots you can also use the handicap stall to charge which is larger and you don’t have to be handicap to park there.
@MachE_VLOG8 ай бұрын
Even though we have a handicap placard and can legally use any handicap space (charger or not), we still try to avoid using that even if the station is empty. If a person in a wheelchair or with mobility issues really needs it, I'd rather leave it available to them. If they have to charge in a normal spot, there is the potential that someone parks next to them and then they could be stuck.

Charge port door should open from the other side for the charger cable.

majority of people can't park a car even in the lines, much less reversing into it. Front Drivers side would be the best for shorter (cheaper) cables and more charging stations

Nice! I saw that Tom Moloughney tried to use his adapter with a Rivian and a Bolt, and it was… NO go. The EV has to be "authorized" to use the Superchargers. What I'd like to know now is if other adapters, like Lectron's Vortex Plug or A2Z's Typhoon Plug, would work with your Mach-E. Curious minds would like to know.

We're hoping to try the A2Z adapter today.

Just a Tip: if you come up to a Supercharger and the charging cable is draped over the charger, that means that the charger is inoperable. So you can pass this information to your subscribers.

Needing to sit at the charger to make sure no one steals your adaptor is something they need to figure out quickly. The only point of putting the superchargers in such great locations is so you have something to do while charging.

Ford needs to start selling tire ramps for those curb guards.
@Jet_Pilot5258 ай бұрын
So Ford created just a plug adapter with no cable extension to compensate for the short Tesla cables vs the position of their charge ports. Sounds exactly like something Ford would do. Other than that this is definitely a huge step forward for EV kind. I'm a Tesla owner. Welcome to the club.

Tesla designed and built the adapter.

Liquid cooled cables so not possible to have an extension.
@Jet_Pilot5258 ай бұрын
Oh, I stand corrected. I guess eventually Tesla will need to retrofit longer cables to the superchargers.

Great super chargers are open to all EV's The question is how quickly will the manufactures put their charge pots in the correct locations not to use 2 stalls perturbing Tesla owners at busy superchargers.

There is a physical interlock and the Tesla cable cannot be unplugged from the adapter while the adapter is plugged into a vehicle. Same with plugging it in, that's why the adapter must first go on the cable, then into the vehicle.
@hartfischer55098 ай бұрын
At 50% SOC, you are getting 150kw, that is great. So unfortunate that Mach E s have to use 2 stalls because the Tesla Supercharger cable is so short as not to reach the front left.
@LarsDennert6 ай бұрын
If you lock the car, the adapter should be locked at least it does on the rivian. The button might be disabled as well. Maybe double check the locking capability.
@MachE_VLOG6 ай бұрын
It doesn't. Ford is working on an update.

If you had a car-length extension cable, you can back in and take only one spot like all the Teslas do.
@MachE_VLOG8 ай бұрын
An extension cable like that would be nearly impossible to make and still support full charging speeds. Tesla is rapidly deploying V4 Superchargers and new site layouts so this won't be an issue.
@RedBatteryHead8 ай бұрын
Can't you set the unlock charge off in the car? Nice etiquette tips. I think the V4 stalls will accommodate longer cable.

54:00 OMG!! I'm glad EA had no queue. I never had a queue at EA but I have seen an altercation next to me. Not fun. A driver got mad because another driver had not plugged in yet. Both drivers were yelling at each other. Crazy stuff!

@@dianewallace6064 I think I’ve seen that station mentioned before on another channel. It’s got 8 dispensers and has been problematic in the past. Looks like it’s 100% up and running at the moment. Tempers get heated though when chargers are broken, people are stressed about low SoC and some drivers are inconsiderate of others. Giselle and Girlfriend probably have a good home charger situation. The Rivian having that extra layer with the RAN has to be really helpful sometimes!
