Sorry Sir to keep bothering you. But on the spec it says: "Redox reactions (k) redox reactions and accompanying colour changes for: (i) interconversions between Fe2+ and Fe3+ (ii) interconversions between Cr3+ and Cr2O72- (iii) reduction of Cu2+ to Cu+ and disproportionation of Cu+ to Cu2+ and Cu " Do you have a video on this?

Yh I've been searching for videos on that for ages too but no one seems to have anything or kno much about it...

yeah i can’t seem to find one about it either :/

@@cha0spretzel-534 Hey, I haven't seen any videos on these either but if you search 'OCR A Chemistry Transition metal colours' there should be a link which has like images of test tubes with the colours & relevant ions. These are all on there :)

Thanks for the video, it's incredibly helpful with the exam in only 3 days time! However I was under the impression aqueous Cr3+ is green!!?
@MaChemGuy6 жыл бұрын
Asdapo It’s actually purple/violet but any impurities present make it look green. They accept either colour
@shroomer_jim6 жыл бұрын
MaChemGuy Thank you so much i was beginning to panic, ocr spec said green and didn't say why it conflicted with other sources. One less thing to worry about!

where did NH4+ come from in the reaction of hexaaquacopper with ammonia?
@pokeninjaful2 жыл бұрын
When reacting with excess OH-, would you have to write Cr(OH)3(H2O)3 + 3OH- or could you just write Cr(OH)3 + 3OH- ?

Either is fine

Also for chromium and excess ammonia can u write [Cr(h20)6]3+ +6NH3 = [Cr(NH3)6]3+ +6H20 instead of what u wrote?

Yeah
@damnlookatme6900 Жыл бұрын
At 5:00 do we have to know all 3 of them reactions or can we just remember the simplified reaction?
@MaChemGuy Жыл бұрын
Simplified one is generally accepted. So long as you're aware that the addition of aqueous ammonia leads initially to the formation of the hydroxide precipitate
