the basic shotokan movement and stance.. But it's so great to see this video ... Because the basic is the most importent. We have to work and work again and again JKA and shotokan's friends and other martial artistes! osu thank you for posted that video

@zakardo absolutely. Also, there are very similar principals in the footwork for Muai Thai and Jiu Jitsu - basically keeping balanced and not compromising your stance.

That's for making these movement lessons so easy to follow (no pun intended 😅)

@greensnakeeyes93 suprisingly though so many people ignore the basics and the whole point is to use them as they are the most effective

@wandfreak13 you can substitute almost any kick for a punch with these techniques, the point of this is the footwork - once you evade your opponent's strikes and you are in position, then you can launch a counter.

@thegermanntwins: Jeez, it's crazy to run across someone who feels exactly the same as you do, and can put things in the words you try to create. Yep, totally agree. Really, a lot of martial arts we don't see much of DO have potential, the problem is that many of those arts are populated by people who treat physical training and contact sparring like the black plague! A lot of things can be effective if you train them with the intention to really use it.

For competition kumite at higher levels, the movement and striking is far too slow. However I still respect the technique.

I don't think you will find useful "kumite at higher levels" EVER but ok, I am karateka but tournaments this days really are ruining karate
