I'm a few years late to this vid, but in terms of putting a textured finish on parts, at our shop we tend to use a random orbital sander. Not quite as nice and uniform as a bead blaster, but has a good matte finish/texture, and is really simple to do.

You can buy 3d printer bed leveling springs, they come in various lengths and resistance. I am totally making some wire clamps!

Nicely done, and nice video. I'm going to have to build one of these now. Do you think it makes much difference if you use one center spring or two outer springs? I'm slightly concerned with the holding power of the set screw on the end of the rod (on the non moveable jaw). Any issues with it loosening up there? Wonder if a drilled/tapped hole in the rod would be ok?

two outer springs grips better at the jaws. Set screw works really well, be sure not to grind the head too much.

What do you say to someone, who posts plans of your arcade cabinets with the words: "I've reverse engineered Ryan's cabinets. It takes some time to build them from scratch, maybe you buy a kit from him" ?

Why would anyone who doesn't think it's worth the time and materials to make, be watching a video on how to make one?

Im not sure i understand the purpose of this video... DIY project with a lathe isnt much of a DIY for most people(just not something poeple will have access to).. Anyway nice video, I gave it a 👍.
