Thank you for sharing this amazing location. I am sure there is still much more to share. The octagon machine gun bunker is such a secure attack/defense position and it was great to be able to see the underground bunker with the French gun-powder container just lying there. The drone footage revealed the trench system and various structures, so interesting and made your freezing hands worthwhile! What fun EE has using his imagination on these adventures and this time taking a bath! Stay warm and safe and have a wonderful Christmas together.

Very interesting not so well known German fortification site. Thank you for taking us inside the support shelter. The bunker with the #8 was interesting with the 1940 French gun powder can. Did have a lot of crap, but was still of interest. EE is a brave soul having a bath in the tub with the -4oc frigid weather. He could be a member of the Polar Bear or Penguin club. :) The Octagon Machine Gun Bunker was quite large and situated at an ideal location for full coverage of any ongoing enemy via the Atlantic. Thank you for all your hard work HH and EE. We appreciate it.

Love the drone footage. It really brought the whole trench/fortification system into perspective. Brilliant stuff. Love the "bathtub". Improvisation by the troops? or maybe a later farmers water trough built using old German concrete and bricks. Looks like the local farmers have been trying to fill in the bunker entrances to keep their animals safe, so suspect that first totally filled in entrance, you found, might lead to another bunker of some sort. Love to find out! You found one hidden bunker, that could another. And great shots of the MG bunker. They obviously put a lot of thought and effort into this one in particular. Another awesome video by an awesome Team. Cheers to you all! Stay Safe, Stay Well and have a great Christmas!

Very well done my friend, that French powder can is amazing and in that condition too. I was doing yardwork, this was years back when I found a .44 cal pistol round ( lead ball), some buckles, a Union enlisted man's Artillery cap insignia, very early war stamped brass ribbed. The chinstrap buckle and Union eagle buttons, the battle of Yellow Bayou and Ft. Derussy aren't far from here. I dug in the yard about 4 ft.down found the Remington. 44 cal cylinder, no pistol though but I do own one dated 1863. Be safe out there brother, hey eagle eyes take care of dad and don't let him get hurt.

@@WW2HistoryHunter Especially the revolver cylinder and artillery insignia, found a horse shoe and some big spikes too. What really got me was underground, a huge brick wall, no mortar just neatly stacked bricks forming an arc, a big cement lid covered it, the mud looked too deep so I never went info it.

So, the walls outside the firing positions serve a couple of purposes. The main one is to designate lane of fire for that position. In temporary positions stakes are put in the ground. This keeps machine gunners from overlapping fire too much, and basically forces them to keep their eyes on their lane of fire. It also allows the gunner to more easily visualize what they can hit by creating a V shaped line of sight mentally. In a position like this, it also allows an opposing force to figure out the dead spots. These are close up though, so you have to get there first (not an easy task). I suspect that the Germans built up a rock wall around the outside to further disguise the position given the loose stone lying around there. The part going overhead of the MG ports may have been for weather reasons - just a guess. Another fantastic video from you and EE!

Bunker is hidden no longer as EE & HH have discovered yet another underground Regelbau. Did EE operate the drone? Excellent footage showing the layout. Excellent location for German defense fortifications. Interested in knowing a little more of the Kriegsmarine magazine story. Gotta love your diagram HH. Quite the bath leading up to the huge German Octagon MG bunker with 5 shooting positions. Simple yes, but very well built and effective. Thanks HH & EE.

This time EE did not fly the drone as it was so cold that with gloves he struggled to do it. Flying it without gloves is like instant dipping your hands into a ice bath. That is how cold the chill factor was that day. This place is pure magic and i loved being there Laura. Thank you for your incredible support and more to come :)

It would be helpful if you would disclose in the videos what specific country each defensive position that you explore is in. Not asking for exact locations but the country would be a nice enhancement to understanding the context etc.
