I lost my dad at the end of 2018, and Hotel Diablo really helped get me through of some really dark places caused by grief (and previous traumas in life). I felt MGK’s pain and vulnerability in his songs, which allowed me to acknowledge my pain. In some ways it was life saving, and I’m super grateful for that. That’s why I’m so glad to see him be this open about his pain, especially in the wake of his dad’s loss (because I know that pain so damn well). And amazing AF for Drew to have this conversation too. We should all be this willing to have these conversations with each other.
