Awesome stuff! Like to watch musicians getting interested in the production side of things, most don't appreciate or aren't even aware of how things work when recording an album. Love all of your albums, but I would like to be hearing this new album when it comes out and not thinking: "Man, this feels compressed as hell". I know sometimes labels can have an impact in this, trying to make the loudest song ever and ask for more from the mastering guy. If your getting interested in the technical stuff of making an album, make shure that, when it comes to the mastering process, the mastering engineer doesn't kill the dynamics of the songs. I'm shure a few years later it will feel better to have a dynamic and full sounding album, than a distorted and flat one. Thank you guys for all the great songs!

Love Machine Head when they came out (first 2 cds were motivational), then not so much to my liking...The Blackening was them coming back...BUT THEN...Unto The Locust...what the fuck happened to Machine Head. Unto The Locust is the best damn cd ever. Blew my mind, the songwriting, the intricate guitar, best cd of the decade. I catch myself listening to a lot of pre-2000 cds because a lot of new music is disappointing but Machine Head bring it because they regained their hunger. I hope they are still hungry on the new album. The Beatles never got comfortable as a group, always pushed the boundaries, always improved and a lot of these new groups don't understand that. They get comfortable and just care about touring. Machine head still push the envelope in the studio and I'm exited to hear the new album. I don't get excited anymore by releases, so that says a lot in my book. Pantera might be my yesterdays, but Machine Head are for tomorrow !!!

you can't really do much with sound unless you compress it like hell and then it'll sound even worse, basically if you wanna get a good quality guitar recording, you need to record with a proper guitar microphone so that it can pick up specific frequencies produced from the guitar amp. If you use a camera mic to record loud audio, chances are that you're not going to be able to pick up the frequency response generated. Which is why when people go to concerts to record a video or what not, they have great quality but horrible audio because the microphone was not designed to have such a wide frequency response and therefore producing overly saturated and distorted audio.
