I really like the look of the ribbing. I wonder how this would look if modified for a male: darker colors, substitute flower with maybe a dog or duck image of some sort, longer length in the body (say double what you did here) so it could be folded back to the level of the crown? Happy New Year and thanks for all your informative videos, Diana.

I love your techniques and tips, (I use the vertical striping with the floatless fairisle ALL the time) but I wish there was identifying info as to which projects used a ribber or just a flat bed.... when I go looking for info, it's irritating to begin several videos only to discover I can't use it because I don't have a ribber.

I'll try and do that early in the video. Diana

Diana, I absolutely love your videos. Quick question for those of us with standard beds who would like to follow along (we aren't all lucky enough to own a KH-270...yet ;)...should we simply double the amount of needles in work? e.g. if you cast on 10 needles, should we cast on 20? Many thanks. Chris x
@dianaknits8 жыл бұрын
You can try that, but gauges vary, and I haven't figured it out for the standard gauge machines. It's such a small project that you could use that first effort as a gauge swatch and adjust from there.

I'm trying to do this on the standard machine too. So far, tried twice using the same numbers as this bulky pattern. If the project works, I should have a pretty cute doll hat. First try was with 2 strands 2/24 and main tension 3 which was too tight for the pattern. Second try, used tension 4 on both beds. Failed again because during the double english rib portion, stitches are catching on the gate pegs of the ribber. Tension is still too tight. I'm going to try again another day with different yarn, tensions, etc.

Hi Diana.. I like your videos a lot.. I am a beginner with the incredible sweater machine... I made the scarf you did... mine didn't look as nice as your but I am proud of it. I have a question... can you start with the e wrap in th e ultimate sweater machine? Thank you
@dianaknits5 жыл бұрын
Yes, and here is what I do - knit a couple inches of waste yarn. Then knit 1 row of ravel cord. Then e-wrap in the garment yarn. When you finish knitting, you pull the ravel cord out to get rid of the waste knitting. It almost always helps to have waste yarn at the beginning of things.

can you do the hat on the KX350 machine
@HJKelley478 жыл бұрын
Since the KX350 does not have a ribber, all of your double ribbing will have to be done manually.

I don't understand why this is called "English" rib and how it is different from normal rib. Also what is meant by "industrial" rib. I would be good if you could define and explain terms at the beginning. Otherwise for newbies not familiar with all the terms it is hard to follow!
@dianaknits5 жыл бұрын
There are just a bunch of names for these things and I don't know the origins of the names. However, I do think this would be a good blog post. At seminars, I sometimes do a quick demo that starts with plain ribbing, then goes to English, also called half fisherman, then goes to fisherman. Plain is very narrow compared to English, and then fisherman is the widest. English has a tuck on every other needle on one row. Fisherman has a tuck on every other needle both ways. This would make a fun blog post - thanks for the idea!
