Good stuff Mike. I agree with everything, except your statement about proximity to failure. You can definitely build muscle two, three or even four reps away from failure, but you are going to get better hypertrophic response the closer you get to real failure. I think quite a few people find it easier / more comfortable to push to failure with machines. I do not remember specific episode numbers, but Omar and Eric have had some very informative Iron Culture episodes on proximity to failure in strength vs hypertrophy focused training in the recent past.

Not sure what I said to disagree with this? Maybe I worded not well but that’s exactly what Iv said in my last 2-6 videos in hypertrophy

Mah man. Was just looking at an old Steve Reeves workout and it was mostly free weights since most machines didn't exist. He did some simple pulley exercises, but most stuff was barbell and dumbbell.

I’m cheap, I always choose FREE weights over high priced machine weights

Hey mate random question, sometimes when bench pressing I get a crazy bicep pump. Only lately . I’ve been training for close to ten years and it doesn’t make sense to me why . Would you know anatomically why this is ? Could be the beginning of tendonitis. Love ya content bruh

Machine only routines are so boring, I wouldn't even want to go to the gym.
