Loving these linked cad/cam/milling vids. Thanks so much for doing them Kevin.

Machine is running great! Love the Hangsterfers coolant!
@MechanicalAdvantage3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I'm getting my feet under me pretty well with the machine now. I need to do a little coolant TLC. It's been pretty hot all summer and I haven't checked the concentration. I have a feeling it is a little high right now due to evaporation. I've been super happy with it so far. I really like that it isn't a puddle of milk and it isn't a corroder like Blaser Synergy is.

@@MechanicalAdvantage no corrosion on the new blend of Blaser 735, I know a number of people using it with zero issues, and near to me is Dowty who make aircraft under carriage, and that’s all they use there. My X7 has only had it in it for a few months, so to early to say it’s fine in mine.

Hi, Another good one. Can I request more on blend? I’ve not used it on machine, been a little confused on the contour and face selection. Cheers Alistair

Very cool video, nice work! But will it open a bottle???
@B3msprototyping3 жыл бұрын
I actually made one of these in the NYC CNC classes Kevin taught and I can tell you that after 8 month’s of use I’m still using mine no problem at all!

Thank you for your video posting! I have a question. What mean MMPT and MPM?
@MechanicalAdvantage2 жыл бұрын
Millimeters per tooth, millimeters per minute.

Hi again, Commenting during vid so… apologies if answered First, the10k spindle speed sure makes my haas mini mill at 6 k look slow. Second, loved the coolant flow then it slowed… is that to chips in pan restricting recirc?
@MechanicalAdvantage3 жыл бұрын
Ha! You noticed. Nope, that was me trying to control the flow so it didn’t completely spray the camera. There is a valve that lets you switch between the coolant on the machine and the wash down hose. I was trying to turn down the coolant pressure by moving the valve more to the wash down hose.
@ragnarhairybreeks3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I’m sorry for jumping the gun. Great volume of coolant. Coolant looked quite clear, what are you using?
@MechanicalAdvantage3 жыл бұрын
Hangsterfers 5080 semi-synthetic. Aaron Powter uses the same, but I’m running it at a lower concentration of about 5%. I think Aaron runs closer to 10% - 12%.
@ragnarhairybreeks3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I have brain stone about what the name of the coolant I’m using right now, haas mini mill. But I do notice, what with pulling out chips from pan ( no conveyor or auger, by hand) and warm shop temps , coolant disappears. Alistair

Windscreen Wipers? When you flipped into the soft Jaws you had the piece flush on top of the Jaws?
@MechanicalAdvantage3 жыл бұрын
Maybe an air knife or something like that. The piece wasn't quite flush. There was .125" sticking up above the soft jaws. Enough for the chamfer tool to go below the top surface of the model without worrying about it getting into the soft jaws.

Good work Kevin. Another great video from you mate. Cheers 🍻. Aaron PS: notice I made no references to metric or blood letting 😂

That’s impressive. You are getting better Aaron! 😁

I’m going to press you on doing a vid on blend. I use scallop to try to match . Well actually I use 3D contour and scallop. I’m pissed that steep and shallow is an expensive add to paid up fusion. Tell me blend can help :-) Alistair
@MechanicalAdvantage3 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure blend is a good substitute for steep and shallow. Though there may be a toolpath that will make you pretty happy. I’ll let you know when I know more.
@ragnarhairybreeks3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I seem to get parts from a recurring customer that loves to present parts that call for steep and shallow. And I used that tool path when it was in the free period. Alistair

Hey mate, how hard have you pushed that 9.5mm endmill DOC/WOC wise?
@MechanicalAdvantage3 жыл бұрын
I haven’t pushed too hard. About 20% tool diameter, 2x diameter depth of cut. .0035 ipt (.09mm) at 10,000. I have 2,000 RPM to go and can probably get to that 30% stepover, 2.5x diameter depth range. This is one of the things I want do in a future video. Test some material removal rates and compare some things like both ways adaptive to one way adaptive. I’m toying with the idea of seeing if I can achieve the 6 cubic inch per horse power that shear hog people advertise. Theoretically I could hit 45 cubic inches per minute (737 cc). Not sure I will try to push that hard though.
