wanna see that high speed balanced on VSR machine :) . i do it in a different way, better imo but usually i avoid this type of machining.

Won't removing that much material from the back face weaken it significantly? Might be worth doing this to a couple of them and then testing how fast you can spin them until the metal starts showing signs of yielding (striations on the back). I have a feeling the RPM limit will now be significantly lower than the original design for that compressor.

Some wheels a flat all the way across the back. I did think about it but I had wheels much larger than this one that I had another turbo shop cut the back of it. I’m not concerned about it even more so because it’s a smaller turbo

I agree! This is typically only an issue with large turbos where the wheel mass is many times heavier and further from center
