Machining Fixture Stops for Build Pro - Certiflat - Fabblock Welding Tables. These fixutre stops are used to stop warping welds. They will help you keep the metal flat, and from distortion occuring due to high temps.
We used the late to machine the diameter and cut the threads, and used the mill to drill the cross holes for the adjustment screws.
Perfect for any home, diy, hobby person
Quick weekend video using some 1" 1018 Cold Rolled round stock to turn some fixture stops to help with weld warpage on the certiflat fabblock style welding tables with 5/8" holds. Used the mill and lathe to make these stops.

Those bolts caught my eye! Well done. I like the 3 jaw, and good to see the big mill doing work.

I like the threaded stops! Those are similar to stops I had a friend make for me but mind don't bolt to the table. Now I have a new idea!

Fantastic idea. Just a thought, if the orange bolts were longer, you could have them go through the fixture, then you could use an Allen key to adjust it from the other side.

That is a very good idea Gary, Good job. The strong hand hold downs use a ball lock mechanism, you should check them out.

Thanks Bill, yea I have seen the rests, stops, eccentric stops, i have also seen the ball lock type, but i haven't see any that have as much adjustability as the ones in this video. Those eccentric ones seem to have very little travel and sit flat on the table, which may or may not work for some things.

Nice job, some lock nuts on the adjustment bolts would probably work well.

Awesome idea, I'll have to wait to make these until I have my own shop because unfortunately my boss doesn't think having a good table is necessary when making hand rails and what not including very expensive stainless rails. My table is 16 ft long and there is not one flat spot on it since its only 3/8 and over the years things have been slammed on top and other not so bright employees gouged it so many times with grinders. I'd LOVE to have a table like yours, I'll definitely have something like that when I get my own shop started.

Put a scrap piece of the same angle iron under the back, unsupported edge of the foot of that clamp so you'll have a flat surface to clamp to. Or, clamp the foot of the clamp to the table (instead of the work) so IT acts as a stop, opposing your new stop. And I'd sure want to get that middle, top piece of the work stabilized and squared up to the legs, before moving and/or clamping the legs. Without that midsection stabilized, your new dog stops can't realize their theoretical accuracy. Which should easily be a thou, if you're using something like a 32 thread pitch adjusting screw. Good design. I'd like to see it used to it's full(er) potential. Thanks - Lumpy

Hi Gary, Good idea for the fixture stops. I like the adjustable part on them. You can never have enough fabrication components! What is the distance on the hole centers on your welding table? Take Care, Reid

Good job! What type of VFD are you using? Most VFD has a low speed torque boost.
@turbocobra
@turbocobra 8 жыл бұрын
It's a Toshiba, 3phase input and output, it seems quite complicated. I will scope it out to see if it has the low speed torque boost.

If you need any further endorsements, I'll throw mine in. I don't have a fab block, I have the pro model and a mix of Stronghand and self made fixtures. Such a great weld table for a hobbyist. Makes getting great results very, very easy.

You can totally copy them! As soon as my table gets back from CNC, I'll be posting my ultimate MFT fixture table. I went with 5/8 or 16mm holes because I wanted the fixture stops to work with my welding table as well.
