I've got a #5 I picked up 2 years ago, it has a sheet metal door with no number on it. Might have been a decal on it but that's gone. It would suck not having T slots in the table. Especially since the center one uses the V shaped centering fixture. That helps with setup a lot. Would like to find a pair of the DA-23 Kwik Klamp hold down clamps for my machine. Recently I built a hold down 'arm' that spans the table left to right like the cast one they offer. Mine is steel bar stock. The #1 machine with moving cutter is weird. Can't imagine using that one. Now if I see one for sale I'll know to stay away from it for sure. The staggered tooth broaches work much nicer and cut free-er than the standard type. Current owner of the Davis Keyseater seems less than informed. I asked price & delivery on a bushing, price was much higher than what I saw listed from Hansford-Davis (former owner of DKS) and delivery time was quoted as 6-8 weeks. They were also going to call back on some parts inquiries, but never did. Not impressed.

saw in your short, you talking old machines, old lathes such as Dean Smith Grace last nigh on a century, I have a Cazenueve 575 x 2000 which is world class toolroom lathe, French, 12hp, from 1972 I leveled it well but it is not screwed down, hence 600 rpm is max I run, it is accurate, these two makes are still produced, if I were young again, I'd import a Caz from France new I learned on a Japanese Mori Seiki, in the 70,s world class machines in great demand second hand Machinist is not my trade so I do learn from certain folk here like your vids thanks

That would be a great machine to have, especially if it has the low profile, large hole dividing spacer(think internal splines & multiple timed keyways.)

How close to Pittsburgh? I would take it. We run a all manual machine that restores vintage machines. We have a museum with all the equipment.

Hard to figure out if he possesses all of that machinery or if the machines possess him. Neither option pays any attention to brush or to the vegetation they have invaded😁
