Stefan, this is absolutely amazing! Cheers from Moscow, Russia. I’ve had a great journey all over Germany and Netherlands in 2009 by trains during Winter. I absolutely enjoy the scenery and that smoothness when no one hurries the time, everything is at its natural pace and whatever is made or built is simple and beautiful.

WoW that was quite a journey. Yes I took the entire trip. You must be exhausted after this? Surely this was the end of your driving day? What is the large canal parallel to the train tracks - shipping route? How to folks get from the train at the Schipol stop to the airport? Not sure where the station is located relative to the airport's main terminal building. In the long airport tunnels - what are the green-lighted doors? Exit doors? At Arnhem - what are the man-made looking scoops out of the bank of the river - seeming to form sandy beaches? How was that amazing building over the tracks at Utrecht CS, built with the tracks right below? I saw a passenger walking to board with a small white dog? Dogs are allowed on your trains? Thanks, Stefan for a wonderful adventure across your beautiful country. I especially love the two tracks running through the forests.

Hi Paul! 1. Well it's a normal working day. Of course you can be tired after it, but its part of the job. We are traveling all day long. ;) 2. That's the Amsterdam-Rijnkanaal. One of the busy routes for shipping in The Netherlands. 3. The Airport is just up the stairs coming from the station. 4. Yes, those are emergency exit doors. 5. Don't know. :D 6. Haha... the Dutch just do that. Don't know how exactly. 7. Yes, they are allowed. Small dogs for free. Bigger dogs have special tickets. You're welcome. :D

The last signal was indeed flashing yellow. On passing the signal you can see it means we're headed towards an occupied track. From this moment in the driver must be able to stop for everything that is in the way. 😊😊😊

@@MachinistStefan Thank you for your reply. Here in the UK the last signal would be 2 diagonal white lights which means "proceed as far as the line ahead is clear, prepared to stop short of any obstruction". Great video! Just past Rai is that more clearing for additional rail? At 25:40 At Amsterdam Zuid more work for rail on rIght? 27:40 odd? Are the Sprinters the single deck trains? Saw same one a few times I knew it because of the graffiti on one of the cars. Thanks for the very descriptive and detailed notes. When you split the train at Hoofdorp (my sp?) I was glad to pop down here to read what was going on. Great work thanks. Might come back again after I view some more.Driebergen Zeist; more new expansion of lines? Such a shame about the grubby windscreen! Glad it got a half half wash at Arnhem. Where does the line go off to on the right, heading to Nijmegen, just after Elst? Three cheers for the lovely CLEAN SCREEN (for just a few minutes hehe) on the return trip from Nijmegen. Surprising to see non-elecreified lines so close to the city or are they powered from under the trains? Last question for today... what is the difference between "Centraal" and "Centrum?" is Centraal MAJOR station and Centrum semi-major? Great trip just finished at 5:20pm Saturday Eastern Standard Time in Australia.
@MachinistStefan3 жыл бұрын
Hi Geoffrey, 1. Amsterdam Zuid will be renewed in the upcoming years. In the end the station will have 6 platform tracks. 2. Yes, our sprinter are always single decked. This because we need to load en unload quickly. 3. Driebergen-Zeist has been completely renewed in the past few years. 4. That's the line to Tiel. 5. Yeah that sounds about correct. Centraal is always at a bigger city. Centrum at the semi-big city. :D

Anti-icing installation. Only active when the weather is really cold and ice could vuld up underneath the train. This prevents that's.

Prachtige reportage!!!
@MachinistStefan5 жыл бұрын

@MachinistStefan Жыл бұрын
Heel goed gezien.

@MachinistStefan3 жыл бұрын
Hahaha, no I don't... But never say never! 😂😂 Thanks btw! No Arnhem is not a dead end. But trains from Utrecht to Nijmegen vv need to change direction in Arnhem. If you look up the station on Google Maps you will see why. 😁😁
@@MachinistStefan Hi, Stefan! Yes! You was right. Probably i meant that the Arnhem is not a full dead and. This is change of direction for passenger trains. How we call it - " the main move". There is a Deutsch boundary nearby.

Is the Amsterdam Metro somehow integrated in the railway? I noticed that for example at Bijlmer Arena the metro uses the same station as the railway trains.
@MachinistStefan5 жыл бұрын
The metro's have their own system but do also stop at multiple stations in Amsterdam at the same level as the trains do. For example in Bijlmer Arena, Amstel, Zuid and Sloterdijk.

@MachinistStefan5 жыл бұрын

Your stations look all so modern, new and nice,- here in germany everything is wrecked! They ruined the whole train-experience to the maximum (or better a bare minimum of function).
@omarschocobleach83375 жыл бұрын
Pozni Pracker Some stations indeed looked like they used crack but not every station in the Netherlands is good search up delft station 2012 and then the later one and btw you guys have more Hispeed lines!
@MachinistStefan5 жыл бұрын
True! Here in Holland we try to make the travel experience better by having top notch train stations. Everywhere in the country we're renovating. Let's hope they will do that in Germany as well. I heard Germany is about to invest 86 billion euros in the railway systems.....
@MachinistStefan5 жыл бұрын
Comrade.... Don't forget most of the Dutch soil is very soft. Making high speed lines means every piece of that tracks must be sank in concrete like the HSL we have between Amsterdam and the south border. Germany has more firm ground to build on. That's why the speeds are higher on their normal tracks as well. In Holland the maximum is 140km/h because of the soft soil.
@ErVeeDeeEm5 жыл бұрын
Stations in the Netherlands look much better, but I think infrastructure (tracks, connections, trains technics) are better in Germany.

@MachinistStefan5 жыл бұрын
