Everyone should know the back story of this song. It is simply one of the MOST beautiful love stories ever, made so much more so because it is true. And Mr. Kearns nails each and every nuance of it so powerfully. Unbearably sad, inspiringly beautiful.

I don't know if I'm reading something into it, but it seems to me every time I watch and listen to this that he feels this very deeply as he sings it and even when it fades to a close it lingers on his face. Also, as much as it gives me a high to hear him raise the roof with his power or trill a song about a lass somewhere or other, for me one of his finest few seconds is the soft sustain at the end that he holds complete control over until the last. Sigh!

In Nov 2001, while on a road trip, my husband surprised me with the CD - could NOT get this song out of my head - that night I composed Christmas lyrics to the melody and kept the appropriate title. I sing it every Christmas at church. I agree with Cheri - Anthony's talent is phenomenal!! I believe his rendition was my initial love for the song, desire to know the history, and the motivation to compose a Christmas song about the One who made the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of the entire world. Thank you, Mr. Kearns!

understand this Eddie my friend.. freedom is a long fight! its a fight that will sometimes manifest in the form of violent rebellion.. other times it will come in the form of poetry, debate and elections.. but sooner or later if a people truly desire freedom it will present itself.. in Ireland we gave our poets, scholars and romantics in 1916.. we have gave many more since.. and I can promise you now that my 6 counties will someday be united with our real mainland.. Scotland will gain her Independence too.. keep the belief.. write, sing and debate!

Show me in the Gospel in accordance with Acts 17 vs 10 & 11 We should use a ✝ Cross? This symbol was used by the Sun god TAMMUZ Ezekiel chapter 8 verse 18 Remember the Sun rises in the East and the first century( Roman Catholic Church 🐺 WOLFS that crept in) took the EUCHRIST CROSS WITH GOLD SUN BURST AROUND IT of the Lords supper and raised it to the EASTERN WINDOW and commited an abomonation of the Devils supper not the LORDS. We are to take our cross figuritivitly and no such symbols as God will not share his glory with anthor its contrary to the gospel.Isaiah chapter 42 vs 8 Iam the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.

Ah now, well that 'Day' is open to interpretation. Never forget the million or so of our people in the northwho have no desire to join in that 'Day.' Moreover, as it stands I wonder what Pearse and Brugha would have thought about surrendering our sovereignty to a European superstate. Pearse might very well be heading back to the GPO.
