To open welded shut power bricks I've used petrol with good results. Pour some drops of petrol on the seam to weaken it and then try to insert a spudge tool in the gap. It may discolour the plastic a bit though, at least on "modern" black bricks. Nitro thinner also works but it's a lot more aggressive and it will melt the plastic if you are not careful.

If you use IPA on the hot glue works great it looses the grip :) Nice going and love your channel ❤

25:02 Those capacitors are made by Nippon Chemi-Con/United Chemi-Con. Most of their caps are good, but watch out for any KZG/KZJ series caps.

Isopropyl alcohol will usually release hot glue

The best way to get hot glue off is to work a little isopropyl alcohol into it, it takes it right off.

I have a question, Why reusing the PCB. When you can use a smaller modern power supply inside ?
@THEtechknightАй бұрын
Because i like originality and trying to repair original electronics the best I can. To each their own though. Also, this is meant to be educational for others wanting to do the same thing. It wouldn't be as fun of a video if it was "Lets throw a meanwell in it and call it a day"
@Irilia_nekoАй бұрын
@THEtechknight but isn't it for a customer ? Otherwise just for the video yes I totally understand
