Recovering a Box truck left sitting for years at a landfill. I only had a few hours to figure out how to fix it and get it to MtnFortresslabs...

Nice video. That looks like a Renault engine, and the cab looks like a Renault midliner 270 also. I'm from France and I've seen a lot of these. Have a great day ❤️

Nice... only problem was once it warmed up the oil pressure would drop to almost nothing on idle... running there was 30-40 psi pressure.

Those are good reliable trucks. I drove one for a few years in Europe. (the Renault badged version) The clutch master and slave could have issues but other than that they just run and run and run and run !

@@MilosHalan I was impressed with the clean running sound too, we just need Al to get the hang of that gearbox but, other than a few fairly minor repairs it should make a good solid unit for whatever he wants to use it for. And yes " nunya binis ", it burns fuel to run, thanks for educating all us dumb people who can't work out for ourselves that the bigger the vehicle and engine, the more fuel it will require, we never could have worked that out without your useless help, fool.

Hot an running down the road 30-40 psi oil pressure, Hot and idle almost zero psi.... As long as it is above 1000 rpm the pressure is fine...
@lorditsprobingtime66682 жыл бұрын
@@mtnfortresslabs Retired and been away from trucks and bigish diesels for too long to remember clearly but those running figures sound about right when hot, usually more when cold but, not too keen on the zero at idle. It wouldn't need a lot at idle and maybe the gauge isn't sensitive enough any more to read low pressures but I'd ask if you're not sure and maybe get it checked, it would be such a shame to wear that nice running engine just for the sake of a new oil pump, if that's what it needs. Glad she's up and running about though. You could send it over to me in Australia, I want one around that size (preferably a bit bigger but it'll do) to convert into a mobile home.

Great video of how you managed to overcome getting it started and getting it to your lower depot of your place. It is an interesting box truck and it is great that you were able to be given it for getting it moved to your place. You need some friends and buddies to help you with your mountaintop project so you can get some more progress complete. You have been working so hard lately seems like. Have a great and blessed rest of your week and God bless you.

I wish someone would give me a truck like that. I've been considering buying one to turn into a motorhome and that's about the size I'd like. It does need some work already but it seems a solid overall unit.

Volvo FL.. In Sweden, we call that cab a Suicide cab ... Because the brakes on the Swedish version of this truck had hyseric brakes, it was enough to look a little quickly at the brake pedal so the truck riveted to stop and you flew out through the windshield ..... Lol.. Maybe you have a volvo engine, indestructible! 👍💖 Love you man! L

that's funny, I used to drive one of those in Canada but it had a nose on it instead of a cabover. Same interior and everything. It was so low on compression you had to race across the driveway to get up onto a raise highway without stalling it. Registered and legal for about double what it was safe to carry :(

So many options with that box van. I can see you fixing the lift tailgate and chopping the box off, leaving it a nice, diamond plate floored flatbed. It looks like it would be tough to get the tall box up the mountain on your precarious road anyways!

sum options might be cutting box off turning it flat bed , another is making the box into a portable room or mini home , or tool generator room ,, easy is park it in the right place and have a locking storage shed .. finally is dig a spot, drive it in and build a underground room.

Actually Mack DID make all their engines in the past. They have Cummins in some and the new ones have Volvo engines as they are now part of the Volvo group :)

@@808Tunahed +At one time Mack used to build a truckwith all their own major components, engine, transmission, cab, chassis and suspension. A truck that was 100% Mack was said to have a pedigree and got a gold plated bulldog on the hood instead of the normal chrome plated one. I still have the gold dog from the 72 R model I used to drive.
