That old Mack sure sounds good. I drove a 78 Mack Superliner with the 283/285 horsepower Mack engine, 2 stick 6 speed transmission, 3.87 drive gears. I really like those older Mack's. The engines, transmissions. Tough trucks.

I drove a 1984 model Superliner for a while when I worked for a logging company in the mid eighties. Was silver with black trim and a long frame. Had the deluxe interior in it. There was an older gentleman started driving it when bought new. He retired and I got it at about 200,000 miles but it was still like new. Had the 350 Mack engine and a nine speed in it. Took a little getting use to that big hood as I had been driving an R model. Really enjoyed it while I had it.

@@johnnyholland8765 yeah it’s a big difference, I normally haul stone on a DM so even shorter hood. I’ve only played around in the Superliner so far haven’t made a haul since it’s been fixed. This one’s got a lot of miles on it as well, before we had it

@@ralphnorris-vk8ff this trucks got the miles on it, not sure how many but it did a world of work before we got it and we’ve had drivers in it for some time. Now that it’s just 3 of us and we’ve got it running I’ll get around to hauling in it.

Up in British Columbia here, all the supperliners are 8s because of the logging. You don't see the 6s. The R models are concrete trucks and the odd gravel truck. In all though very few Macks

we had a lifter face just like that one just completely fall off in our e6-250 it sure has caused a lot of trouble but we are slowly working on putting it together in our 87 mack rd

Yeah this trucks been in our shop for over a year just slowly working on it and checking everything close. We had it in once like I said to fix the lifter and camshaft and there was a piece of metal left behind that caused the second problem. Never can tell though I’ve heard trucks coming out of a professional shop and something happening to them.

Best Mack ever built you need to drop a EM9 V8 in a Superliner i am working out if i can run one in my 6x6 Mack i am going to fit a Superliner bonnet/hood if the RPM doesn't work out with the V8 i will take the electronics off a EA7 and work it up i enjoyed watching thanks mate

@@Noelzsazsa nice, sounds like you’ve got a big project. We had another motor that we could have made work, it’s a later e7, if this one wasn’t able to be fixed. But it wasn’t as bad as it could have been.

@AppalachianRust hi mate the E6 are a very good engine you have some good equipment I have always been into Mack's I will keep watching you the older Mack's are still very popular with guys that do site excavation for builders here we cart 5 tonne excavator in the tipping body my mate has done a cabin lift 12 inches on air bags and has a custom bonnet/hood he made with a slope down to the front and dual air can's with the hi rise air scoops and dual 5 inch stacks running around 500 HP not a fancy chrome truck more like yours yeah I am semi retired and do a bit of site work myself and just play about with my trucks and work to fund my truck projects I will try to email you some pictures of what we have going on down here thank you

4V 350s ran good if you had a little fuel turned up and a good transmission behind it. Nothing like a big C15 Cat but for their day considering their smaller displacement
