I worked for Mack for 40 years doing engine rebuilds and fuel pump repairs. This is like a trip down memory lane.

That is awesome! I am sure you saw a lot of cool things during full career working at Mack Trucks.

When I started, the mechanical E-6 was the power plant of choice with some V-8’s thrown in. I saw the E-7 start up then the VMAC electronic engine. That was interesting. I did all the injection pumps from American Bosch mechanical to the last Robert Bosch electrical. Then Volvo took over and I retired. Good times.

That's cool. I'm a mechanic myself but my specialty is Man diesel, and Benz trucks

Anyone know which e7 engine has springs on the push rods? And whether they are used for the intake or the exhaust?
@mamaafrika368910 ай бұрын
I haven't overhaul the mp7 engine yet but the engineering purpose of the spring in push rod is to delay exhaust valve closure so ensuring complete savage of exhaust gas...so I see no reason why an intake should have spring loaded push rods
@calebstokes57217 ай бұрын
Can’t recall which e7 but it’s on the exhaust valves. Just did an injector job with an over head adjustment.

Is this a straight keyway cam or a offset keyway cam engine?

@37:40. No rolling the pushrods on a straight table to check for straightness? No tapping the pushrods lightly on a concrete floor to hear nice bell sound that make sure they are not blocked with sludge? Pittsbrgh Power KZbin video 😇
@JimMackHeavyEquipment Жыл бұрын
Good point, those are two commonly accepted methods of checking pushrods for damage.
